Help with SM3D22
Hi All
The following is my Information where I am setting up new motorized SA Tracer SM3D22 with Captain 8000hd and 31" disk. Please help me to confirm the setting for motor elevation, dish elev. and TRUE SOUTH angle. Your Location Satellite Data Dish Setup Data Latitude: 42.553° Longitude: -83.019° Name: Satcontrol SM3D12 / SM3D22 Distance: 37716km Motor Latitude Angle: 42.6° Azimuth (true): 180.0° Azimuth (magn.): 187.7° using Compass Declination angle: 6.6° Dish elevation: 40° So, what I am thinking is MOTOR ELEVATION: 42.6, DISH ELEV. 40.0 and TRUE SOUTH is 187.7. Is it correct? Please help the super newbie... Thanks |

I'm at 41.35 latitude with a SG2100 motor and my dish elevation scale reads 22 degrees for a Winegard 24 degree offset dish. the dish face measures 42.2 degrees at true south.
So there is likely a difference in motor tube design. Be sure you don't get confused with that 30 degrees minus declination angle stuff. just disregard that and use the dish elevation listed in your motor manual for 41 latitude. Most important check your plumb and level of the motor post.
