Well here's my first experience with them. I ordered a complete motorized system on a Friday afternoon and the items showed up Monday afternoon. Awesome shipping time! However my SG2100 motor was bad. The box for the motor was ripped apart (I had to tape it up to send it back) there was no manual or packing material. The bolts and such were just thrown in there. The motor was not referenced at 0* (which is what it should be from the factory) instead it was locked up on about 75* (it would just buzz when you tried to reference it). It was obvious this had been returned not to mention it had scratches were the bolts went through. I called and was told to just get a RMA, no big deal. BUT hell, I should not of had to pay return shipping on something that was an obvious return sent to me. I know things happen. I know this was just an accident. But I paid for the system and shipping once for new unopened parts and then I had to turn around and pay $10 more to ship something back that I should have never gotten in the first place???? I shipped it back this past Friday so I will see how long it takes to get a good unit. I'm not knocking your business here. Again I know it was an accident that I got what I got. I am just giving the original poster my bad motor story. lol, although I am a bit po'd about the return shipping I had to pay.

My office just got off the phone with them asking to send us another receiver and charge our card. They said they would not. We shall still see how long it takes them to get a new one to us.

Some packing mistakes here as well

I received the wrong LNB arm for my Fortec Star 120 cm dish and from the package was missing the base for the free mount offered with the dish at the time of purchase - 10 days ago . I wasted three days (two of which were perfect fishing days for late November ) trying to setup the antenna. Maybe they have more merchandise at cheaper prices but the staff in the shipping department probably needs better pay rates in order to boost their attention to order fulfillment. Sadoun management please give them a raise for X-Mas and some refresher training.

i have to agree. I have been having a lot of problems with an incomplete item shipment - promised delivery that never happens (twice). A part that was out of stock so I received an incomplete shipment with a critical part missing. What pisses me off is that there is no way that the shipment could have been done without knowing that the part was missing, and no mention was made to me. A quick search of the central OH BBB gives Sadoun an "unsatisfactory" rating for failure to respond to or resolve complaints, and a google of "sadoun satellite sales problems" shows that a bunch of bogus blogspot.com blogs have been created with the express purpose of burying the posts of legitimate complaints in the google search results.

This shows a conscious lack of respect for the customer, as well as a conscious effort to hide complaints rather than resolve them. Sadoun ought to be ashamed, and ought to be willing to correct the problems rather than hiding and ignoring them if it wants to be around for any length of time (almost 6 years and I doubt they'll make it to 10 at this pace). With the high price charged for shipping and handling, I expect quality handling of my order as well as quality packing of the order. The slap in the face was that when looking for the missing part in the shipment, I found at least 6 balled up pieces of plastic wrapping used for padding clearly marked with my missing part number. Sadoun shipped to me when they knew that a critical part of the equipment was misssing: the only reason was that they valued the money earned for the sale more than they value customer satisfaction. Not all companies have their priorities in that order, at least not the good ones.

Growing pains my a$$.

I bought a system from Sadoun a few months back and did receiver everything in order.... however....

I would agree that the shipping charge was a bit on the higher end... I checked with UPS and FedEx and their direct costs was about half of Sadoun's shipping costs... Also I know of one other dealer that ships for free...

it's not just shipping you are paying for from Sadoun it is shipping and handling his employee's like to be paid to. the places that does this for free is probally adding it into the cost of the merchandise nothing is free.LOL

This comment is not aimed at Sadoun, but in general at all dealers who incorporate handling charges with their shipping.

As far as I'm concerned, handling should be included in the price of the product, and I think that including it with shipping is just not right. I know that most dealers do this to one extent or another, but I think it's just a ploy to make people think they are getting a good deal on a product only to find out that they are paying more via this handling fee. I realize Sadoun and other dealers have to pay their employees, but the employees that pack the mail orders are no different from employees who deal with the over the counter customers, or who receive the inventory, or stock the shelves, or do the book-keeping. All those costs should be included in the price of the item.

How would you feel if you went to a grocery store, and after they rung up your order, they added $15 for a shelf stocking and cashier fee? I know that the store has to pay the cashier, but that cost should be part of the cost of what you buy, just like handling should be part of the cost of mail order items.

BTW, the charges that annoy me the MOST are when you order some tiny item, and get charged $3 for shipping/handling, and if you order 2 or 3 of the items, you pay the $3 fee for each item, when you KNOW that it doesn't cost any more to ship 3 items than it does to ship one item.

Anyway, I'd much rather pay more for the item, and pay exactly what the shipping charge is, rather than have the feeling that I have been cheated by excess handling charges.

Like I said, this rant wasn't aimed at Sadoun, as I have no idea of to what extent they add handling. This is just my opinion of "handling charges".

Well this being America we all have our freedom to do pretty much as we please. I do agree with you Bill on this one to a degree. Since most orders through a company like Sadoun's is custom each handling cost would also be custom to that order. On the flip side if data is being collected an average could be aquired per dollar purchased and that amount simply applied to all products based on purchase price.

Rainman is 100% correct. We have many customers who refuse to pay shipping. No big deal we simply mark up the price of the product. You will pay for it somewhere

The Bureau processed a total of 6 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 6 complaints closed in 36 months, 3 were closed in the last year."

This was taken from the online BBB report for Sadoun Satellite Sales. Note the first paragraph. Specifically the first sentence. Now we move to the second paragraph. 6 complaints in 3yrs, that is an average of 1 complaint every 6 months. If we apply my 2% rule he would be doing 50 transactions per 6 month period or 8.3 a month.

I kinda doubt he could survive on 8.3 transactions per month so it would be my guess his complaint rate is far below 2%. I mean really far below, perhaps more like .01%. That would be something to be very proud of. The unsatisfactory rating is due to a failure to respond to the BBB. It is not required any business cooperate with the BBB.

So in conclusion to my speech The original poster who I quoted as I opened here definitely made an attempt to paint a picture in one direction. As to "burying", your post is here. On a site paid for by Jamal Sadoun. Does not look buried or hidden to me.

Wejones, I totally agree with you about this "handling fee."

I think it's a bogus charge... I like your example, about going to the grocery store and getting charged for a "cashier fee." heheheh... Imagine that concept.... d'oh!

on, a-side note, can I create a new thread and rant about this service "tipping" concept? (heh)

Hi Rainman,

Yes, I alrady know that most "free shipping" places put that cost into their product price... however, this one place I shopped at, I noticed its price for a receiver, went to other sites and saw the SAME price about everwhere else and those places had shipping & handling charge...

Bought my receiver from this first place w/o shipping charges.. got the unit, works fine...

So, like I said... I dont know how they absorbed (somewhat) that shipping cost (maybe via volume of sales? heh)... so... it's still possible to get a good deal from a "no shipping cost place" if you know where to look...

So, I'm gonna keep this in mind when I need to order something heavy and big like a 80cm dish (making sure other places charge about the same cost for the dish) and order from this place with FREE shipping .... this could save me $40-$50 in shipping cost. heh... heck, even if they charged for the dish $20 higher than most places, I still save $40-$20 = $20... heh.

yeah agreed lower price and saving mone is always nice but sometimes it's worth more just to get the customer service.
