There is a news technology that seems to be on the rise...DBI. With a high gain WiFi antenna, people can use wireless internet from distance of up to 4 or 5 miles. So, if the local coffee shop has free wifi internet, with a DBI antenna you can use their wifi access from your home 4 miles away. I hear this is very popular in Las Vegas, locals point their directional antennae toward the Las Vegas strip and access free wifi from miles away. It seem that on the Vegas strip there is always a new business that promotes its business by offering free wifi. There are already a lot of ebay businesses offering dbi equipment.
