I have noticed several
HDTV Terresterial FTA receivers out there. It seems like the way the television market is moving. I have noticed on the Fortec Website a product known as Fortec Diamond. It appears to be a version of the Fortec Ultra that can also receive OTA Digital Terrestrial broadcasts.
If I take a look at Titantv.com, there is a long list of HDTV channels available in my area--(more digital channels than analog locals because each channel can carry more than one broadcast). I think it would be wonderful to be able to view satellite television and my Digital OTA locals with only one receiver .
There is also a fortec product called Fortec Ultimate. This is simply an FTA receiver with a DVR--WOW! Now if they can just combine the Fortec Diamond and the FOrtec Ultimate with their EPG technology--We, as customers, could program the DVR to record programming from the OTA locals, or from FTA satellite using the EPG function! ( I know that many FTA channels do not send out an EPG signal, but some do, and certainly my OTA digital locals do.)
There is now using Terrestrial FTA technology to start a special OTA television service in a few citites like Salt Lake, Las Vegas and some others. With this service you simply use a traditional TV antenna to pick up signals from local broadcasters. You pick up your normal local channels for FREE just as you do with analog. But, digital technology has more room for extra channels. So local broadcasters sell this space to US Digital who then uses the extra broadcast capability to start a pay TV service offering premium channels on top of the free locals.

It is just a matter of time before we can combine all of these technologies, Digital OTA & Satellite FTA & Pay TV services. Imagine, as a consumer, you can have so many FTA channels--some satellite, some local! If you want pay TV you have options: Satellite, OTA, or old fashioned Cable! And hopefully all of these technologies can be combined to be received using one receiver with a DVR!
