I receive a printed publication from a competitor of Sadoun's which listed a new to me product package which I think falls right in line for Sadoun Satellite Sales. They are selling refurbished DSR 411 (or DSR 410 never remember which it is) receivers with a Ku dish and standard lnbf for reception from X4 (4DTV). Not sure what sat that is but this is a direct competition to DTV and DN. The programming available is complete and Ku so the little dishes work. While I have not counted I believe there are at least 100 channels available on X4. Motorola is a high quality receiver. If you are not aware of this offering PM me Sadoun and I will give you the competitions site so you can check it out.

It is another alternative.
Plusses:
- I don't think there are any committments to make. With DishNetwork or Directv I think you have to sign up for 2 years now.
- relatively cheap per month rates.
Minuses:
- limited channel selection (compared to Dish or Directv)
- No HD.
- difficult to record & watch another
- multi-rooms needs a box for each room at same rate as 1st box
Correct no commitments but if you pay annually you get a discount just like big dish pricing.
All valid points. From what I see on the guide for X4 for English programming it looks like a good across the board selection. Do not know if you can do Ala Carte but would imagine so. I know what I have seen is package offerings but also know you can do a movie pack from that sat for slightly higher costs than doing the C Band versions. Do not know if you get as many channels though. I have not look specifically at X4 channel lineup as I usually only buy movie channels. Just know it is a loaded with channels sat along with music.
Yeah you have to go by vendor's channel offering. Last I looked, it was 2 packages, "a few" and "a bunch" (no true a-la-carte).
From what I've read, the HITS channels on X4 are not all available to the vendor, therefore can't be offered as subscribeable. Like the ESPN situation on C band...
I would think Ala Carte is available as I have bought just Speed last year which is on X4. As to the HITS channels could be a provider issue. I have done no homework on this item at all other than seeing the advertisement. I know HBO from 1 provider is higher than from another and it really does go channel by channel. I am guessing the receiver is the same in concept to a normal 4DTV receiver so multiple subs with multiple providers could / would be an option.
I am assuming it takes the same module I use in the 922. Like I said I have done no homework on this item just think it would be something worth looking into for Sadoun since it is a stationary mount small dish that is sub able.
At this point, the vendor providing the product and reselling the programming will only use the 410's provided by them.
They will not sub a receiver (at this point) that they didn't provide.
So I guess for Sadoun to resell this they'd have to be a co-distributor for the vendor. Not sure how that would play out.
Reminds me of Primestar. We all know what happened to that.
I hope the guy succeeds, but the competition is tough for the reasons I stated above.
Reading threads on this from another site makes it sound a little too clunky for my taste. People continually report problems getting updates and guide data not working... If I'm gonna sub to satellite, I'll either go pizza or go with a full featured dual c/ku band solution.
