    DG240 problem

    I have the DG240 it has been working fine since Aug 2007, a couple of days ago I found that it would not move west, it would move east OK. At the motor the lights are flashing correctly, I did a reset at the motor, nothing. By hitting the west button several times I got it move west. Then I could move it east with no problem with the east button.
    It would not move west unless I pushed the west button several times and it would move west. So the only way I could move west is to hit the west button several times and then it would move.
    I got out my hi-tech instrument ( hammer) and tapped it (motor) with the handle several times and it seems to be working ok, I hope.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    my only suggestion might be corrosion on the cable connectors, causing a low voltage situtation.

    use some scotch brite to clean them up.

    My motor seems to be working ok for now.
    I found that one of my antenna setups had been changed to Diseqc instead of USALS could that have affected the motor not moving west, either with the manual buttons or the remote.

    Once you get the connectors clean Jim add some Dielectric grease to keep moisture out. did this on my setup and haven't had any problems and it's been going for a couple of years now.

    thanks, I will do just that........how do you clean connectors, pmb1010 says scotch bright but under that product name it shows several products. I can replace the coax ends, buy would need to clean the motor connectors how do you do that.
    thanks

    Re: DG240 problem

    I'm starting to think that the trouble is within the motor. The coax fittings looked great, I put a new one on the coax feed at the motor added dielectric grease. I removed the coax going to the LNB and still had the problem (not moving west). Using the buttons on the motor would move it east not west. I hear a click in the motor when I push the west button but no movement the east button works every time. After repeated pushing of the west button and hitting the motor with a hammer (lightly) it started to move. I also put another LNB on the dish didn't seem to help. It's working for now I think it may stop again. Now has anyone disassembled this motor a DG-240, could there be something loose inside or need cleaning. I think the gears are ok, the dish tracks the sats properly and I don't hear any noise from the motor like bad gears. Remember it always moves east with the receiver or with the manual button but not west with receiver or manual button when I have the trouble.
    Thanks;
    Jim
