    DG380 Set-up, please help

I have bought a DG380 and have difficulty installing it, eventhough I had successfully installed the HH-100 a few years ago (till it broke down). My Lattitude is 40, Longitude -75. Based on the manual of DG380, the elevation angle of the motor is set at 50. My closest satellite to the True South Azimuth is AMC 5 at 186, elevation 43.6. Since my 30" dish has no clearly marked declination angle, I directly measured the angle of dish to the pole as 43 (dish is pointing 43 from the ground including the motor). I moved my dish to 6 W using my motor and set TP at 12177H, SR 23000 and pointing the motor to true south, but never be able to find the channel eventhough signal strength = 80-90, quality = 60 but do not turn to yellow). These are my questions:
    1. The motor elevation for the motor set at 50, do we adjust the pointer (arrow like) at 50 or set the edge of the bolt at 50?
    2. If I set the elevation pointer of the motor at 50, and set the declination angle by modifying the dish angle so that from the dish to pole is 43 (as specified in setting of a stationary dish), I am right at the limit of my dish declination. Is it normal since cannot point at any other satellite East of AMC 5.
    3. I wish someone can point out what could be wrong. Of course I set my LNB to Univeral.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Again:

According to the SG380 manual, the elevation of the motor range from 25 to 75 with 25 at the upper scale, 75 at the lower scale. But on the scale of SG 380, it rang from 15 to 65, with 65 at the upper scale and 15 at the lower scale (reverse with how it was drawn in the manual). With the pointer at 50, the shaft of the motor is almost parralel to the mast. Can anyone please tell me whether this is manufacture error.

typically you set your motor to your latitude and leave it there.
So for you it'd be 43.6

then you set your dish to a calculated angle based on the motor you have. And yes the shaft of the motor can be looking like it's "parallel to the pole".

Put the motor to the center point, point the whole thing to your magnetically adjusted true south heading.

Use USALS to drive the motor to your most south satellite. With the receiver tuned to an active trasponder, adjust your dish elevation a little bit (and I do mean A LITTLE) up and down till you get a quality indication on the receiver. Fine tune by moving motor side to side on the pole to peak signal. Tighten everything down.

See how other sats come in.
