It would be like owning a car without a motor. You stay in one spot and can't move. It may be the difference between one satellite or 30.

why in your opinion it is a GOOD idea for someone to use an HH motor on their FTA dish
In my opinion, an HH motor is a good idea so you can tune multiple satellites for additional programming. However, one must also realize that if they didn't have an HH motor AND their programming moved to a different satellite, then they would have to realign the satellite and potentially lose the channels that did not move. |

You must live in the north country if you even need to ask.
Try going out side with a -30 chill factor and manually move your dish. |

why go to motorized
I am new to Fta and as a technology lover am excited to step up to the next level and try a motor. I am really hiped to see what the sky of satellites has to offer for free fta tv. If my budgit could afford this I would be there. Gary

Why my idea?
Why is it a good idea to use an HH motor on your FTA Dish?
Here at my residence at -79.4 Deg West, I can scan from 30 Deg, to 129 Deg. which includes about 20 + Satellites. That is only the Ku Band which is all that I am set up to receive. If I were set up to receive C-Band also, I would more than triple my TV [FTA] reception. When I was considering my purchase of FTA equipment, An HH motor was a must, and it still is. Thanks ![]() Bill

I'd say that using an HH motor is a good idea because once installed, you don't need to go outside in the rain or snow to move your dish anymore. Squeegee_me

Beyond all the reasons already stated, it allows you to remotely fine tune signals when the wind sometimes shifts your setup a little - like it does mine! |

Motorizing a dish is the best way to maximize your channel viewing by being able to track all satellites in your LOS that are on the Clarke Belt.
...... and with recent additions of satellites in orbit it's just as easy to add another satellite using USALS on a compatible receiver.

Using an HH is a good idea on a FTA system because new channels come and old channels go. A fixed multifeed dish is nice, but you can only have so many LNBs. Thats fine for a subscription service, but if you want to find new channels on new satellites, a moveable dish is the only way to go.
I'd like to win the HH motor.
