IRAN: SATELLITE TV DISHES COULD BE LEGALISED
SATELLITE TV DISHES COULD BE LEGALISED
Deputy Head of Majlis Cultural Commission Mohammad Mehdi Pourfatemi said on December 12 that all satellite TV programmes are not harmful and some broadcast items might be quite useful for some individuals who need to keep up with latest scientific and research developments. He told IRNA that banning satellite is not a reasonable approach in anti-corruption campaign and that proper arrangement should be made to enable people to receive their required programmes on satellite. Pourfatemi said that currently the residents of the southern Iran population have been watching foreign broadcasts on their televisions without dishes in recent years. He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) should remind its viewers of their religious identities and the realities of their community by presenting proper programmes. He said that some institutions such as IRIB and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance are expected to revise the law banning access to satellite and come up with new solutions suitable to the requirements of the community.
