What Satcruiser do I have??

I thought I had a Satcruiser DSR-101 plus, but I'm not so sure now. On the back of the receiver it simply says "Sat Cruiser DSR-101" and the front says "DSR-101 ACE". The software version says REV. R1A1.19AAMUSA. What model receiver do I have. The programming of satellites, etc. appears to work just like the "plus" model. What are the main differences if I indeed have the "Ace" model??? And If I do have the "Ace" model does anyone have a manual for it?? Thanks.

Seems to me you have the 101; is it full size or sort of a compact unit, goldish in color?; if so then it is an ACE; the 101 series are grey in color and have two little flip-down doors on either side. I have manuals for both if you need one scanned and emailed to you.

Hi Bobkat,
It is the gold color unit and smaller than the usual stereo component. It does have doors on either side, one for menu buttons, the other for decoder cards. If it is the ACE, what's the difference between the ACE and the PLUS?? And yes I would definitely appreciate a manual for this unit once we figure out which one I have!!

Hmmmm... I'm confused myself now  The gold color units are very compact and have only power and channel up/down buttons on the front panel. They also have a Dolby Digital optical output on the back panel. I'm pretty sure you have a 101 -- or reasonable facsimile -- it must be kind of old because all the 101's I've seen are grey color.

Anyway I have the manual for the standard 101/plus series -- PM me if you need the manual sent to you electronically -- if I can figure out how to send it...

Hi Bobkat,
I contacted Beir Nabala where the person I bought this receiver from originally bought it and they said it was an ACE. Do you have the manual for that also?? They wouldn't give me any more info because "I" didn't purchase from them so I'm asking here---what's the difference between the DSR101 ACE and PLUS?? It also may be why I don't have the clock "Time Settings" on my menu.... Other than that it appears to work like everyone else's DSR-101!! The clock thing just irks me not because I have to have it, but because I can't figure it out!! Thanks for your patience and for anymore info you can provide.

OK; I am not exactly sure of the differences between the ACE and the 101 or 101+. The current ACE that I sell is the compact unit without full front panel controls and without provision for a CAM reader. The current 101+ that I also stock is larger and does have the front panel controls and CAM provision. Electronically and feature-wise I can see no difference at all between the two, so I assume they share a common main board. Your lack of "time settings" baffles me because both the ACE and the 101+ have this feature. I have manuals for both and I can send them to you if you like. Sorry I can't be more specific on the differences between the two but I just can't see any real differences.

Hi Bobkat,
My unit is indeed silver or gray, about 13 1/4" x 9 1/2" x 2 1/4". It does have the two doors on the front with CAMS slot and menu buttons. On the back it has the digital audio output connector and S-video out jack. So I'm pretty sure it's not the older DSR-101 model. And yes I could definitely appreciate it if you could e-mail those manuals if possible. I wish I could say for sure which one to send, but maybe after receiving the manuals I can eliminate it down to a model!! Thanks a bunch!!

You will find the manuals are pretty generic; I doubt it will be able to pinpoint the particular model you have but I'll send them anyway. What is your email address?
