Adding card slots - what is entailed

I guess averybody has seen the place on the front where additional equipment can be added to receive smart cards and the like. What is it worth, $ wise, and what can this give one in more programming ... at least if one motorises the dish ...???

The BEC 6600+ used to have an optional CI moldule that you would buy to add to the receiver to enable you to use a CAM and smartcard to subscribe to pay channels. These CI modules were discontinued from production and eventually the whole receiver is currently discontinued.

We still have a few BEC receivers that came with built-in CI module from the factory. The model number is BEC 6600+CI
