Sonicview HD 8000 FTA?

Hi,

Here's the second HD FTA unit to market... This one is supposed to be able to pick up HD from satellite, in addition to OTA...

Can someone confirm?

Interesting. Where do you see this available? And at what cost?
Doesn't say whether it does 4.2.2 (probably not)
I've seen a couple similar new HD receivers mentioned on other forums, but haven't seen any aimed at US market (ie had terrestrial DVB instead of ATSC), but since ATSC, this must be. But probably expensive.

I saw this at some other sites... they guess the time-to-market for US is about mid Feb.

Estimated cost in the mid $400s, like most new HD FTAs. I thought the "QPSK" meant it could receive HD DVB signal?

Yeah, the normal HD is QPSK. Things like the AMC3 PBS HD, and CBS and ABC are QPSK and also 4.2.0 . But there are also modes like 4.2.2 and 8PSK. I think the QualiTV receiver does 4.2.2 SD, but I don't think any consumer receiver does 4.2.2 HD and/or 8PSK.

It sounds like this just does the standard 4.2.0 HD. That's fine for most of what's there now, and 8psk isn't likely, but I was hoping for at least SD 4.2.2 for a new model. But it still sounds like a good deal since it does both OTA and sat in one box.
