Can regular KU satellite reception work with FTA dishes and LNBF?

--I have a question (I'm not really sure where to place this question). Anyway, I am in the process of setting up a nice little system of various satellite receivers (Dish Network, FTA, and regular C/KU Analog) in the living room. Will the FTA dish/LNBF I got from Sadoun Satellite Sales work on regular analog KU? I tried for a few minutes to get something, but nothing ever came in. I know that the (BUD type) satellites transmit in both Horizontal and Vertical, but am unsure about the FTA stuff. Is FTA some sort of circular polarity, or what? Thanks.

it should work as long as you use the fta receiver to change the polarity ia other words slave the analog receiver off of the fta receiver.

In addition to what Rainman said, you have to realize that there is less and less analog programming on Ku any more, which is probably why you didn't see anything. Look at the recent thread in the 4dtv-c-band forum, called "identify this channel" or something like that. Someone was doing what you describe, but wasn't seeing anything, mainly because the analog signals were coming and going, and would be gone before he tried to tune them in, but he finally found one. Pretty much all the analog Ku is "occasional video" that doesn't last long. Ie like a football game or on site news feed or something.

The only KU analog I know of that is up most of the time is the test card on AMC2 TP6

Weekends have lots of analog KU feeds and now with college football starting, there will be more

--Hi. Yeah, I haven't gotten around to mounting the dish yet. I purchased the 90cm FTA dish, LNBF, and Digipower 2100 mover from Sadoun's. Right now, I only have the dish mounted against a sawhorse pointed at AMC-4, haha, but at least it is something (Edit: My FTA receiver is a Fortec Star Mercury II). My non-FTA C/KU satellite receiver is a Uniden UST-4800 that I just received in the mail. It's new old stock from 1992, haha. Hopefully, I will be able to find an eight or ten foot mesh dish and actuator in the near future, as I have already purchased a C/KU feedhorn with LNBs, and 200 feet of ribbon cable.
