Upgrading my Bec 6600

I have a Bec-6600 with the older software installed from the factory (roughly 8 months old)
I downloaded version 7 (Bec-Link 68)
When I click on Setup Com and hit Com 1 I get an error (parameter is incorrect, then open error)
same goes with Com 2

I have a Db-9 Cable (female from the computer, male to the reciever)
and I'm running windows xp

Any ideas?

I saw somewhere that the software is not compatible with Windows 2K or XP
