Can not detect any signal with satcruiser- Q signal 0

I have the problem with this new Satcruiser system. I have installed dish before. I tried the installation with the existing pole but with different azimuth and elevation. Nothing worked. I noticed another user had exactly the same problem and switched to universal LNBF. Should I do that? Sadoun, please reply.

Verify your dish az/elevation, and LNBF skew here:
http://sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/S...Calculator.htm

Also, make sure you are using a live TP on Telstar 5. On the TP CONFIGURATION menu, go to 12152 and click OK. Adjust your dish until you see Signal/Quality bars.

Follow some of the instructions found here:

Benny --keep trying.

I attached the LNBF farther as possible and tilted 30 degree. Finally I got over 100 channels but the signal is never better than 45-50. I strongly believe the universal LNBF will have some effect. But the standard one will work though. I will try to replace with the universal one.

I doubt that switching to a universal LNB will make much difference but give it a try if you already have another LNB. Signal strength of 45-50 isn't too bad; try tweaking the dish a bit to see if it makes a difference; without loosening the bolts, move the dish by hand a bit east then west and then up and down; also try rotating the tilt a bit.

kat

PS: your geographic location will have a big difference on your signal strength; if you are on the fringe of T5's footprint then 45-50 is about all you can expect; also, if there is a tree partially blocking the signal that will reduce signal strength as well.

Benny:

Did you configure your receiver for STANDARD LNB? The local oscillator frequency should be 10,750 MHz; if that doesn't work try 10,600 MHz.

While you are waiting for your universal LNB to arrive, which probably won't make any difference, here is some reading for you:

(This is a cut and paste from another thread)

What I would do is this:

- remount the dish on the now-levelled mast pole

- preset the elevation (using the scale on the dish itself - forgot the angle dip tools and stuff) to the elevation given for your area

- point the dish (by eyesight) until it looks like it is pointing the same as your DirecTV dish

- hook up LNB to the receiver; set BEC to T5; set L.O. oscillator to 10,750 MHZ; set transponder to 12,152 MHz; make sure "LNB POWER" is "ON"

- move the dish in small increments to the left of where DirecTV dish is pointing (as referenced from you being behind the dish); Telstar 5 is at 97 degrees west and DirecTV is at 101 degrees west - so its only a small move to the left

- if you get no signal by the time you are pretty far left of the DirecTV dish; change the elevation setting one degree up, then again one degree down if still no signal

- if you still get no signal then change the L.O. frequency to 10,600 MHz and repeat the above procedure

Good Luck

kat

Hi Kat,

I tried my System again with new universal one. However, It is still not working. I even take the whole thing to my friend's house and tried it. it still not working. What should i do? I wonder if the dish I ordered is the wrong one OR do i have to install it horizontally (since the dish is oval shape). Thank you so much for your help.

Benny

No, don't mount the dish horizontally. It may look a bit oval shaped but it is classified as a round dish. Just make sure the mast is perfectly level in all directions, preset the elevation on the dish to the coordinates for your area, and slowly turn the dish until you get signal.
