Sat 2040 transponder scanning

Can Bill190 or someone else advise: Can you use the satcruiser to scan transponders in analog & digital modes to search for wild newsfeeds or sportsfeeds? How is this accomplished? Thanks, J

I will get feeds when I am searching and there is something on the channel. Otherwise the Satcruiser may not list the channel. Probably best to enter the channels manually. (Click on the frequency in TP configuration and click on add channel.)

Also you can go to edit channels, click "info" while on a channel, and change the channel name, VPID, APID, and PCRPID.

There has been a lot of feed info lately on Usenet: alt.video.satellite.tvro

Thanks for reply. Alot of work, but I think I will input all transponders. Now, what about Analog versus digital? Will the receiver scan for both digital & analog signals (with NTSC freqs entered)? There is no symbol rate, right? Do you have to change the mode of the sat 2040? Thanks, Jim

On the 2040, analog is almost a separate receiver. On the remote press analog then OSD. Then you can get different menus by pressing guide.

Sometimes the OSD menu will go away. Keep pressing menu/OSD until it returns.

One menu has channel.
One menu has satellite.
One menu has "search for channels".

To start, select channel 1.
Then select the satellite you want.
Then click on search for channels.

If it finds any channels, it will overwrite the channels from the current channel you are on forward. So if you find a channel, go to the next channel before searching again. If you find two channels, got ahead two before searching again. Otherwise you will overwrite the last channels you found.

I sometimes play with the "invert" listing and it gives me a picture. Have not figured out what this should be.

Note that there are not many analog channels on Ku. Sports feeds on weekends though. There are more on C band.

By the way, do not enter NTSC frequencies in digital. Only enter frequencies for which there is a symbol rate listed. (Unless you want to experiment and see if you can ever get anything...)

Thanks, Bill, but when I go into analog, then OSD, I get 3 menus--video, audio, lnb--from there I can pick the ch, sat, etc. Then, I pick "all scan". As the receiver scans, I can see a quick pop up video of what it is picking up as analog signals & it places these channels in the analog channel list, as you said. however, when I then, click on the channel to view, I get nothing on screen. do I domehow have to edit my list or save/store the newly scanned channels? Thanks, Jim

Try fiddling with the invert setting.

I'm not sure quite what the invert setting does, but playing with that got some channels for me.
