CDTV415 receiver

I'm returning to the US after some time away and I have this receiver.

I wrote to the manufacturer and asked if it can be used in the US and this was their reply:

"The CDTV415 receiver can run with a power supply range from 90 to 240 Vac, with 50 or 60 Hz. It supports Pal, Secam and Ntsc video Standarts. Make sure that the satellites you would like to receive in the U.S are in the range of input frequencies of the receiver (950 to 2150 MHz)"

Anybody know what I can use this receiver for? Are the US satellites within this range? I'm particularly interested in receiving Russian channels from New York.... I'll need a new dish, can anyone recommend one that I can use with this receiver?

Thanks for your help.

From the specs above, this receiver will work fine in the USA.

I recommend the MKIT1 motorized dish system here: http://sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Dishes/M...llite-dish.htm

One last question

Before I bring this back with me... I do have a second Direct TV receiver - is this the same thing as I have above? Will this do the same or should I bring this one back with me?

No, your DirecTv receiver is completely different than your FTA receiver.

One final thought.. does it make sense to sell this unit here and buy a complete system from you or is that just plain silly? As a professional, what would you value this unit at for purposes of resale? (Bought in July this year)

Bring it back here - you won't get much selling used. It will work fine in North America and all you'll need is a dish and motor from Sadoun. That's my advice.

Dish size you mean? Minimum of 30" (80 cm); preferably bigger.
