signal problem
Hi everybody,
This is Rajaa, i have a huge problem i bought a DSR-8005 CI Premium
with the gold vision dish and gold vision 0.3 LNB.
I compared it with the one on sale on sadoun website, the new, Fortec Star Lifetime ULTRA and everything was the same as far as the receiver
concerned but the problem i can't get any signal from any satellites here in Houston,TX i have tried different elevations, Azimuths and skews but, in vain nothing worked!!!!!! i have added the telstar5 and galaxy 3C and entered the right frequencies,SR i have found in the lyngsat website. it didn't work either.
can you please help me and tell what's wrong here??Thanks a bunch,
Rajaa out,

Did you configure the receiver for your LNB? If the LNB is "universal" then the L.O. frequency must be 10,600 MHz. If its a "standard" LNB the frequency is 10,750 MHz. There should be a setting for this in the receiver menu.

Well, now its just a matter of aligning the dish to get signal quality. Make sure you entered valid transponders for T5 and G3C. That data can be found at www.lyngsat.com. Do some reading in this forum; there are some excellent threads -- search "Telstar 5".

Ah! another thing,
I have the signal meter on24% and when i keep turning the dish to different position it comes up to 28% at two different spots but, that is it iiit doesn't go up any further than!!!!!! i change the elevation and the skew as well but nothing either it goes lower than 28 or it just stays at it!!!!!!!!!
in my screen i have the satellites names on the left and a list of the following in the right : TP frequency above the signal meter: 11836 , LNB frequency:10600 , Diseq ff , Network search ff , FTA only: off , 0V/12V switch: 0V , 22KHz tone: auto , LNB power: on
do you think i should change some of those settings???? if yes, will you please tell me .
Thank you,
Rajaa,

I thought you hired a professional installer to align the dish? So now you have moved the dish?

OK; well, like I say, do a search in these forums on "Telstar 5". There are many things to tell you but if you do a little reading you will get a clear understanding on dish alignment. Yes, TP = transponder.
Do some reading and then get back to us with any specific questions you have.

50% is OK; that is all I get in my area. The rain will reduce your signal -- that is normal. Don't worry about it; congratulations for finding the signal !!
