Need help for Coship CDVB2300 receiver

My friend has a COSHIP CDVB2000 satellite receiver (made for CCTV)which has been set up to receive FTA Chinese TV channels from the Galaxy 13H (TF 11720, SR 26.80). I though I can buy a similar model of receiver to do the same thing. Thus, I bought a COSHIP CDVB2300 satellite receiver from eBay and tried to set up to receive these FTA TV channels.

However, I failed to do so even with the help of my frined who has some experience to install a dish. Then I took the receiver to my friend house to check if this receiver works. I connected this receiver (CDVB2300) to my friend's dish and LNB which is working when it is connected to his CDVB2000 receiver. Unfortunately, this receiver (CDVB2300) cannot get TV channels either. Then we tried to connect the CDVB2300 to the "loop out" of my friend's receiver (CDVB2000). By doing this, the CDVB2300 receiver can receive these TV channels. My friend think the receiver does not send power to LNB.

I wonder if this problem is caused by no-power to LNB and how to fix this problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

A simple way to check is take a voltmeter and measure the output at the "IF IN" connector; it should be 13 to 18 Vdc. Also make sure your receiver is set to "LNB POWER" = "ON".

Kat, Thanks for your help.

I checked the voltage and it is 18 Vdc. Thus, it seems this problem is not caused by no-power to LNB. Do you have other suggestions?

That's totally weird. So you're saying your receiver (2300) only works when wired up throught the LOOP OUT from your friend's receiver? I would say there is something defective with the tuner section of your receiver.

Yes, that is right! This receiver only works when wired up through the LOOP OUT of the COSHIP CDVB2000 receiver.

Is there a way to check if the tuner section is defective?

Thanks.

You would have to take it to a repair shop. Generally speaking, it is not worth having these boxes fixed. Two hours labor and there's the cost of a new one...
