PBS Audio - AMC3
I have my system fully operational, finally. However, I notice on AMC3, 12110H, I get the PBS channels. They have great picture & strong signal, but I am unable to get any audio. CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME HOW TO TUNE THIS IN OR HOW TO ADJUST AUDIO FREQUENCY IN GENERAL ON DIGITAL SIGNALS? Thanks, Conchman

the pbs channels you are refering to are using ac3 audio and you will need a receiver that has ac3 audio pass through like a fortec lifetime star ultra. the signal will then need to be fed to a home theatre system that can accept ac3 also known as dolby digital to decode. my satwork 3688 was doing the same thing, perfect pic but no sound. i slaved my fortec on it and scanned the channels in and fed the pass through . perfect signal and audio.

You will also need a 75OHM digital Audio cable to connect the stallite receiver SPDIF output to your stereo's digital audio input.

I've got a Fortec Mercury II that has digital audio out but when I connect it to my Receiver (Pioneer VSX-D498) I'm still unable to decode the audio from the AC3 PBS stations on AMC3. My receiver has no problems decoding audio from my DVD player so I'm wondering if there's a setting buried in the Mecury II's menu that I need to tweak. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks

you need to switch to ac3 mode. this is done by hitting the red bottom on your remote to toogle between the different audio.

Well the only two red buttons on my remote are "pause" and "record" but neither seem to toggle ac3 mode. For what it's worth, I've made sure that the SP/DIF is set to "On" (in the TV Setup screen). Also, when I hit the audio button I see two entries that say "AC3", each with two red circles on either side. From the audio menu I don't seem to be able to toggle anything on or off. What am I missing?
Thanks

Well the audio button is red on my remote. If you can locate the audio button, you can select AC3 by using the up and down arrow buttons on your remote (that is the area where I have a up, down, left, right and OK button )

I'm using optical. For what it's worth my receiver is about nine years old, but as I said, it has no problems decodiing Dolby Digital 5.1 from DVD's.

Unplug your optical line from your stereo, so leave the other end plugged in the satellite receiver. Take a look at the unplugged end of the optical line, do you a light??

On my Fortec Classic, the receiver gives 3 choices. An english AC3, A spanish AC3, and a no name AC3. The no name AC3 gives out some clicking sound. Both the english and spanish work fine. However, you have to select that particular audio feed.
