Locking on to a satellite

When you're trying to lock onto a certain satellite (get yellow bars), does it matter if your transponders are set up correctly? Do you have to lock on for each specific transponder or is the case that once you have the satellite locked, then you worry about your transponders afterwards.

Transponders frequencies, polarity, and symbol rate matter before you try to lock on a satellite. Make sure your receiver has the active transponders already setup for the satellite you are trying to aim your dish to.

For example for Galaxy 10R, use a the frequencies on this table:
