Review SAMSUNG SFT-702M

I just got this small receiver and like it a lot. It weighes 2.2 poundes(1kg) and has a nice front with a green lead. Thid receiver has easy to use menus, games and a caleander. The picture quality is very good even with composite video. The same can be said about the 2 audio outputs to use with a stereo. This reciver is very sensitive to any signal including those od weak satellites. The reciver is made in Korea and has a very nice remote that look like the remote of the Koan receivers.

Please describe the assembly & set up of the dish & the motor . A FAQ for us newbies would be great !

I forgot to mention that this receiver does a perfect conversion of the pal signals. I test on Hispasat 1C using the Arabsat mux.

update. Turned out this receiver has severe disorders  long time to lock in signals, dosen't like the diseqc motor, somtimes shows good quality, but when seraches dosen't find anything! Sorry the first test was with echostar radio staations, so it was easy to pick the signal.
I compared it today to Fortec Star 786 and the fortec has a 90 % quality in Hispasat while the samsung picture was breaking! I used a fortec that i had sold to my friend long ago and I regret it.
Fortec Star 786 is the most sensitive I have seen after playing with tens of receivers. I even used it to install for some friends.
I just got a new Humax that I'll do a little review on it as soon as have some time.
Sadoun, i am thinking about getting a new Fortec Star 786 again. do you still have the European model?

That's an understatement. I've had major problems with that model and do not sell them anymore. In addition to the problems you experienced I have seen the writing on the menu turn to jibberish - like all weird characters and stuff. Its a piece of junk IMHO. I've heard that new software cures all but I'm sceptical...

Yes we have the 786v3 model which replaced the 786v2 model you had. Check our receiver section at www.sadoun.com

I like my 786v3 too. Bec 2000 is another good receiver. It's tuner is as sensitive as the 786v3. Whatever the 786v3 locks in, the Bec2000 does the same thing. The Bec sometimes reset by itself but not very often, once a month, I can live with that.

I used a Bec receiver for few eeks and I think it's good, but Fortec 786 is the best. The Bec 2000 is a simple and easy receiver, but the graphics are not that great. Also the picture quality and sound are better with the Fortec than the Bec.
Anyone tried the BEC DBS1000 ? I heard is not a great reciver!
bobkat, are you a seller or installer? where are you located?
Good night
