Re: dtv dish?

YOu can use DirectTV dish to get FTA DishNetwork (not many though, but all the music channels are FTA).
For linear KU such as T5, you will need a larger dish, 30" minimum.

Re: dtv dish?

I don't know about that. I bought one FTA receiver I tried it with a DTV dish it didn't work at all. No signal or picture. Was I doing something wrong? Please advise. Thanks.

Did you reaim your DTV dish to a DishNetwork (EchoStar) satellite? Did you set the LNB L.O. frequency to 11,250 MHz? You can't get anything with a FTA receiver when the dish is pointing at Dave's birds.

DTV 18" dish

I'm new to this, my DTV dish lnb w/2 out put point at 101.
My question is if I point the dish to charlie at 110 or 119. Is it gonna work?
The problem is I'm affraid the Dave's lnb is not compatible with Charlie. :?:

I'm using a Pansat 2300a with an 18" dave dish and a single dave LNB on dish 110 and 119. It's alot harder to aim it than it was to aim at Direct TV, but once you get it right it will work.

I am going to try this too . Been reading a lot . If I get some of this wrong , some one please correct me . :-)

First , I have a question for you . Which bird ( satellite ) did you try to pick up ?

A FTA receiver or DVB PC card will not pick up DTV . A FTA receiver will pick up the radir channels on DN ( Dish Network ) & BEV ( Bell Express View ) Canadian . It will also pick up the un-encripted " barker " ( announcement channels ) .

There are hacks for DN & BEV for the DVB PC cards , but that is another subject , altogether .

There are other FTA channels on other birds . Much of this appears to be ethnic / foreign , educational , public broadcasting and religous programming .

How much of this will work on an 18" DTV dish , I will probably find out .

Another suggestion , my DTV dish is set for around 50 degrees of elevation for the origional bird , at 101 degrees ( I think ) . If I point it at a different bird , I think the elevation must change ?

Also , I think the DTV LNB is made for circular pollarization . Also DN & BEV ? But the other KU band DVB birds , are they circular , horizontal or vertical ?

Do I need a differnet LNB for the other birds ?

Thanks
Wyr

Yes, the elevation will change for different satellites.

DTV, DN & BEV all use circular polarity LNBs except for one of DN's satellites that uses linear. Most other KU band DVB birds use linear. So yes you will need a different LNB for the other birds.
