digital pass-thru (2040)

Bobkat,
I have 2040 working o.k. for C-band LNB (analog). How do I get the DVB channels?
The set came with a 6-inch coax jumper (male-male) and on the back of the box are
connectors for digital "in" and digital "out" with some reference in the user guide that this
is a "pass-thru" path. I do observe that the 13V LNB power switches to the "digital in"
connector when I select digital mode (which, of course, disables power to the LNB cable
on the Analog A connector and shuts off the input signal).
Either I need a A/B coax switch to direct input to either Analog or Digital inputs (and to
pass DC power up the cable in either case) OR... would it work if I connect LNB input to
the Digital In port and patch the Digital Out back to the Analog A port???? Or something
like that. I can just cut and try but I don't want to burn up something by patching DC power
into a port not designed for it. In effect, What's the digital pass thru for?
Thanks,
...Genie...

Re: digital pass-thru (2040)

I have the older model, DSR 201. Here is the proper settings:
lnbf ----digital in----digital out-----either analog A or B.
I don't know if there is DC passing from analog ports to digital. Just to be save, I put a DC blocker between them. You can get a DC blocker at Radio Shack for $2.

BK,
Yep, it works now with the following connections:
LNB -> Digital (In) / Digital (Out) -> Analog A, using plain jumper coax.
Gets analog transponders o.k. and finds DVB channels o.k.
I did not include a DC block as I don't see how the LNB would get
it's DC power that way. The DC LNB power out the analog A port
is switched OFF when the receiver is in digital mode, so DC power
from the digital rf port has to get up to the LNB through the
jumper cable. Well, anyway, there was no smoke or sparks!
The owner's guide was, of course, no help on this topic.
