Echolink EL-240

Will dish 500 work with the Echolink FTA receiver?
The dish is already installed (had dish network service before), if it does would I need to pointed differently?
I connected the receiver and I get a no signal and the image is flickery. Any idea how to fix that? or is it because there is no signal?
