nothing

I have a pansat 3500 and I loaded an old bin by accident. After it loaded I heard sound but frozen picture. Then it turned black and white and still stood frozen. Unplugged the receiver and waited 15 minutes then turned it on and no power and nothing on the LCD screen showing at least b-80. Unplugged it several times and nothing. Left it plugged in and turned it off from the switch at the back of the receiver and also waited and nothing. Did this also several times and nothing. Is my receiver a goner? What can I do?

I don't have any particular experience with this receiver, but in general when people destroy a receiver with the wrong firmware, the last resort to saving it is to "JTAG" it. This involves a special piece of hardware that is connected between your computer (many use an old fashioned parallel port since that uses TTL voltage levels) and the receiver. Also you may need a special image of the firmware, since JTAG usually rewrites the whole ROM, including areas usually untouched during standard firmware upgrade. (This is why JTAG works if you have destroyed the boot code).

I've never actually JTAG'd a receiver, so I can't help more, but if you do a Google search on the terms "pansat 3500 jtag" you may find what you will need to fix it.

Good luck.

Options

You have some options, maybe the best is buy a new one, there are some cheapers, else you have to get JTAG equipment and skills to make it.

If you have been messing with non factory approved BINS you probably fried your 3500.
If you used original factory approved BINS you can send it to the factory.
Just in case before this subject extends or gets deeper I would like to invite you to read the rules of this forum.
