Different TP Quality Levels Normal For The Same Sat?

I have the BEC 6600 with a Fortec dish and an HH120 motor. I am
currently getting all the channels I want from Galaxy 3C, Telstar 5.
I working on getting a good signal from AMC4 but so far I can only
get 3ABN from TP6. Admittedly the signal strength for TP6 is not great
but its good enough to get a nice clear picture.

I noticed while adjusting my dish for Telstar 5 that not all the transponders
show the same signal strength, although for Telstar 5 they are all good enough. Now with AMC4 I can see the yellow bars for TP6 but not for TP8.

I assume I need to tweak the dish position for AMC4 but before I start messing with my dish's elevation etc... I was wondering if this is normal for different signal strengths from different transponders on the same satellite.

Yes, it's normal. Some transponders are weaker than others and some may be on possible spot beems aimed outside your location.

It's true that transponders on same sat are not the same strength. Look to me that your dish does not track the arc correctly. How did you set up your Stab mount? Did you aim the dish at your truesouth first?
