Viacast FTA receiver

Can anyone help me - I have a Viacast receiver I got off of ebay to try to get FTA channels - I have been trying to pick something up but nothing is happening - I also bought a ku band lnbf - I have an old dish net dish I am using with the lnbf and receiver - I live in the florida area - the setup is a little confusing but I think I got it

record no. (0 to 9 I think this can be your choice)
lnb lo - (I set) 10750000 KHz
lnb power 18
frequency (G10R) 12108000 Khz
Signal rate 6666

What else could I be doing wrong?

Thanks

Well, for starters, the DishNet dish is too small in diameter for FTA reception; you need a minimum of a 30" pan. Order one from Sadoun along with the proper LNB and then post again once you have it mounted -- we will help you align it and get reception.

I was afraid you would say that about the dish. Do I have the wrong LNB also?

Thanks

The LNB you have may or may not be OK - post its brand name and specs and we'll see. The DishNet LNB is not good for FTA use except for a couple of freebie channels on DishNetwork and Bell ExpressVu.

K

That LNB is fine for FTA KU stuff. Now you just need to get yourself a dish

Thanks - I appreciate the help - I will get me one on Tuesday hopefully

Also - I noticed that you can pick up a couple of things on the dish net satellites - can you use those LNBs to get them? Just wanting to test this receiver out at the very least until then. I have a dish 500 setup with a 3rd dish at 61.5 for the extra locals. Can I at least test this receiver with any of this just to see if it works?

OK - I have the larger dish now - 30" dish

Still having some problems getting anything to come in

I would like to start with galaxy 10R

Any suggestion?

Oh - I also have a Microyal receiver now - seems to be better and faster

thanks

You might want to start with a strong satellite such as Galaxy 3 C. G10R is a bit more difficult to find. As for Microyal receivers - they suck - but seeing as you already have one you might as well try it out. Configure the satellite for G3C and align the dish.

Here's the specs for G3C ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/g3c.shtml

Keep us posted...

OK - I got the G3C and also AMC 4 and a couple of other ones - but I still can't get that darn G10R - It has the locals I want. Any help would be appreciated

The Echostar 7 (119) keeps getting in the way.

(I think I know the answer to this one) Should I just go ahead and get the motor for the dish?

Or better yet, sell everything and get the fortec system?

Until then - what can I do?
