you can make the Classic scan faster by using the 12 Mhz setting only problem with this and other receivers that scan fast you may miss some transponders.

Keeps will give you some insite on what you are asking about. I own a Coolsat-5000 an like it for its motor working features, an that is it, but when it comes to scanning a satellite it stinks, their has been maney times that i have scan a bird an it misses some of the weak transponders, an will compare it to a pansat-2500 wich is slower than a snail, but it finds alot more than that coolsat ever did. an as far as the time factor the coolsat would take about 2-minutes to scan a bird, wile the 2500 would take about 15 minutes, so that is why i keep going back to the 2500 its a good receiver, slow but good, alot better than the pansat 300 that i replaced it years ago. an if it was me Keeps i would keep the Fortec, instead of buying a coolsat.

Now if you are looking for a good fast receiver Keeps (I havent tryed 1 yet but going to get 1 in the near futher) to try out is a Satopia, from what i have read it has a real good tuner in it where it will lock on low signal with a real low symbol rate, an from what a freind of mine tells me (hes got 1) they are fast on scanning an dont miss anything an it will find more than the receiver that he used befor, which was a Traxis-3500. an he has compared receiver to receiver where the traxis would break up an pixel on a weak signal. an the Sotopia would hold a lock an run with out breaking up. hope this info helps you out Keeps an good luck to you....
