How did you set up the dish without turning the receiver on first?

What satellite are you trying to get?

Go check the installation FAQs on Sadoun's website. Installing your satellite dish and receiver - DIY INSTALLATION SUPPORT

Your question is so broad as to be unanswerable. We don't know where your dish is pointed. We don't know what satellite you want to watch. When you figure out what programming and what satellite you want to watch, then go to the installation FAQ and use the angle calculator there. Point your dish. After that, get out the manual for your receiver and read it. Set it up by following the instructions.

After all of that, then come back here if you still get no signal.

If you are trying to illegally receive programming, don't come back here and ask, as it's a prohibited subject.

This is the first question you need to answer. So please tell us what satellite you are aiming for.

I am new to this. I understand FTA is legal. I do not know the difference. What would be the wrong thing to do? I want legal stuff.

most of the linear sats are legal as long as you don't install aftermarket software your fta receiver will only receive the legal stuff.
