BTT -

Howdy, nice site!!

I am curious about the Visionetics Vistar 2000 also. Is this receiver any good? These are available... used and cheap. I would like to slave one to my C/Ku-band BUD system:

Toshiba 2220 - (had to dust 'er off after the 4DTV went bad - bad audio on ALL digital channels only - analog clear & VCRS, no probs)
C LNB 17º - Cal-Amp
Ku LNB 0.7 db- Gardner
Feed - C/Ku Corotor (standard)
'12 Paraclipse

Also, will this receiver work with my LNBs? They were upgraded around '95-96. I am looking to get the FTA channels on C1 TR9 and anything else that is availble. (T5, G10, C5, etc..)

Thanks,
69beeper

This reciever is couple of years old...:-). 10 transponders programed at maximum. If your plan to use it for few channels, it should be fine. Otherwise, get an up-to-date receiver such as Fortec.

...speaking of Fortecs, what's the differences between the two Fortecs listed below? Do they both come with all the newest sats/channels already programmed in for us FTA first-timers? Which one would be best to use as slave on my BUD?

Fortec Star DVB-786v3 FTA Digital Satellite Receiver - $155.
Fortec Star Lifetime MPEG2 FTA DVB Receiver - $175.

Both are good. Features are pretty the same. The only difference is AC3 output.
Lifetime: supports AC3
786v3: not support AC3
I have both, love them.

If you can wait for 4 more weeks, pre-order the Ultra model now (free shipping). The Ultra has all the Lifetime features plus the "blind search".
