I have SV4000 and have a 33" dish with Digiwave DG780 LNBF, and SG2100 Motor. I have the Elevation figured out but the Declination has me confused. The scale on my dish goes from 15-70 and according to your sight info declination for my location is 5.2. My USA area code is 39601.
Thanks for any help!!

you substract the declinaion angle from your elevation angle on the dish

Rainman, They are talking about a motorized setup.
This is where I get a bit confused but this is my theory: 1. Fixed installation Dish elevation should be = 90 degrees minus your latitude, and minus a standard delcination for your latitude and the satellite. 2. Motorized dish installation - Motor elevation = 90 degrees minus your latitude, Dish elevation should be = the angle of your motor's tube mount (usually 30 or 35 degrees), minus the declination angle. This is usually charted in your motor's manual. Your zip code inputed to Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com gives us this info... Latitude: 35.8916° Longitude: -90.6583° Name: 89.0W Galaxy 28 Distance: 37192kmMotor Latitude: 35.9° Declination Angle: 5.8° Dish Elevation: ° Elevation: 48.3° Azimuth (true): 177.2° Azimuth (magn.): 177.5° LNB Skew: -2.3° ![]() ![]() Dish Skew: 90.0° ![]() ![]() This is for a fixed installation and your motor's manual should explain the install angles. But notice that if you add your Lat, the dish Elevation, and the declination angle, you will get 90 degrees. The declination angle adjusts for where the satellite is in the sky... Most of the sats are over the equator. If the satellite was an infinite distance from earth, then the dish elevation would just be 90 degrees minus your lat. Since the sats are about 27,000 miles above the earth the direction needs to point down to them a bit... For the above sat 89 you need a declination angle of 5.8 degrees. Then you will have an arc of all the satellites from your location and as they go away from your longitude, they get lower on your horizon and the declination angle changes. Each sat will have a different declination. Good luck.

Thanks Guys;
I tried all the sugestions and even just winged it on instinct, and still nothing. It is my guess that the angle on my SG2100 shaft is not correct for my area. What should it be for area code 39601, southern USA. (30, 35, 40). I have got maybe a half dozen channels on Satelite 121, however, I am tuned into Sat. 119 on my tuner. When I try to go to 121 and get a signal I don't get anything. I have a SV4000 reciever. Any sugestions are appreciated, and welcomed.

Dover, are you having a problem setting up a sat system? Tell us all your particulars of what equipment you are using and where you are located.
