Question 1st time HH motor set up.

I have an HH Motor and a 31 inch dish.

    My ZIP code is 93291

    Latitude: 36.3478°

    Longitude: -119.3577°

And my furthest south sat is the 119 w.

    Now the site calculator says:

    Echostar 7
    Distance: 37223km
    Motor Latitude: 36.3°
    Declination Angle: 5.8°
    Dish Elevation: °
    Elevation: 47.8°
    azimuth (true): 179.4°
    Azimuth (mag.): 165.8° using compass

My question is what angle do i set my motor at? 47.8 or 36.3 ????

Also what elevation should my dish be at?

This is my first time setting up a motor.

any help or advise would be useful

Im convinced that this motor is toast. Ive put in the right co-ordinances and it goes all the way to the west comes back to zero center and stops. Then if I move it to the east, It wont go. But yet I can getly push on it towards the east by hand and it goes limp and falls over to the east. Maybe the gears are stripped ???? I don't know. I think Im going to buy a S.T.A.B motor when i get enough money scraped together. I might also run a tripod or mast in the ground. This one is on my roof and is a bear to set up.

Just remember it's always easier to setup your system when you can have your TV and receiver at the dish.
It does sound like your motor is bad if it falls by it self.....strange. If you are going to get another one, take this one apart and see if it has broken gears. Is the shaft loose, might want to check that too.

This sounds just like the problem I had with a STAB HH-90 purchased in 2004, logic board replaced under waranty late 2004, it was doing the exact same thing when told to go to satellite it went full east or full west then returned to ZERO from day one but never returned to the satellite's location. It never actually ever got setup and the process failed. This was tested on 7 different receivers with the same result, so the problem was not the receivers. I replaced the motor with an SG-2100 and now all works just fine on the same receivers and I have not looked back.
