How to know if my LNB or the reciever is gone

I have a Foretec star classic NA and KU LNB for the IA5 sat. All of the sudden when I changed the holder for the LNB I lost everything. I have no signal and my reciever gets stuck and remote does not function on it at all. Then it moves and locks up again. I even reset everything to factory settings, unplugged it all night and nothing changed. It does not function at all. What am I missing?

Maybe you bent the arm...We don't know all of the tests you did or what equipment you have.......can you bring your equipment out to the dish to do testing. Also check out the threads under Fortec Star in the forum. i.e. the bad TP.......on G25

    BAD LNB or ???

thanks for the info. I played around with the sattelite and unplugged the sat. reciever once more over night and now that works. I could bring the strengh up to 29 which still is in red, but no more. I should add that I have a dish network 500 dish which I know is small, but it worked fine before. I am going to get a 31" to maximize my reception, but could my LNB be shorting or something? reciver seems to be functioning OK? How does an LNB go bad? What are the signs?
I thank you for your answer

It could be bad connectors perhaps, coax, do you know anyone with a receiver you could test with. I did have a bad universal lnb, it was the last test I did, of course... after alot of aggravation...had receiver tested, had motor tested....my dish would move maybe five times and quit. New LNB fixed the problem. Can you take your receiver and a tv out to the dish and with all new coax and fittings....Are you using a good RG6.
I think my LNB had a crack in it because when I removed it a little water came out. So ya it could be the LNB???????
