How Does USALS and DISQeS 1.2 make the Motec 2100 work?

I am just curious. The USALS commands make the motor move based on Latitude and Longintude. How does the DISque 1.2 commands control the motor? Is it that you set the location for each satellite each time, and it remembers where to go?

The other question is... does either command system have a way that it tunes into the satellite by moving the dish east and west, and up and down, and gets the highest signal?

I installed a Fortec 85mm dish with Universal LNB and Mercury II receiver and it is amazing. I do not think i have the full Clarke Belt. I am receiving 82 thru 103 Longitudinal satellites, but can't get beyond that. When I scan for the 85... it always gives me the 95 satellite, so I must be off somewhere.

Best Regards, Vitruvius

Yes, the DiseqC 1.2 lets you manually find the sat, and then save that position. It is less user friendly, but it is capable of getting better results in cases where either your motor is out of sync, or your lnbf arm is a bit bent. USALS is basically one additional DiseqC command, which is a goto X, where X = some angle. To impliment USALS, the receiver must calculate the proper angle based on your lat/lon, and the sat lon. USALS is much simpler, and is recommended for first time users.

No. Big C-band receivers can do that, but I haven't seen any of these DVB receivers that could do that. It would be a nice feature though, and I wouldn't think it would be too terribly hard to impliment.

Thanks...

WEJONES, Thanks for the input. Sometimes the satellites tune in so well that I think it is automatically tuning in at the highest strength. Oh well. It would be a good feature, and since the motor and receiver talk together, why couldnt the LNB receiver signal be evaluated? Let's get a patent on this...

Regards, Vitruvius
