motec sg2100 setting lattitude help please

Here's the problem, I know I want 43 degrees lattitude, but where is it?

I only have a nut and a washer and it slides on the bracket.
My question is do I set it on the left of the washer, on the right of the washer, or do I try to guess where it is centered with the bolt head?

all help appreciated

oh yeahhhhhhhhhh there is a scale........just not sure if you put the washer on the line, from the left of the washer, right of the washer or use the center of the bolt.

I have that pic bookmarked already, but his 2100 has an indicator for where to put the settings and mind doesn't. Might be made by a diff company.

mine is just any washer and any bolt and I have to guess if it is in the center of the bolt head or at the beginning or end of the washer.

was just hoping someone would already know.

Look carefully again. My SG2100 has just a regular bolt and washer but in the casting on the motor in the area of the slide of the mount is a small wedge pointer. Align it to the scale.

If only I had that pointer, but it is nowhere to be found. Opened the bag of washers and bolts carefully checked the box carefully and can't find any pointer. Throughly inspected the motor when I took it out.

I do appreciate the help though.

You might be able to make an indicator of some kind. To calibrate it, I think the key is that the reading on one side should = 90 minus the reading on the other side. If I remember right, that washer had some kind of prongs or something that kept it square in the slot.
However, it's probably easier to just use an inclinometer on the motor, and ignore the scale.

I could use an inclometer, great idea and I will so that for sure.

I do have to admit I disassembled the bracket and found an a pointer on both sides built into the casing as mentioned by Elgemdcff in the above post.

I didn't see it or recognize it as a pointing device for a while.

thanks to all for your help.

Elgemcdff:

Wow, thanks for the post. I was looking for a circular pointing device I have seen on different motorized systems. It was hard for me to realize what I was looking for when I was staring at it. I disassembled the bracket and found what you were talking about.

Thanks again

The pointer is cast into the motor housing.

Interesting. I just went outside, and took off the bolt and washer, and looked at my "Digipower" version, and it doesn't have any pointer on the casting. So I guess this is a difference between Digipower and Motec.

I know there has been some discussion here about not all SG2100s being the same, but I never quite understood the difference. They sure "look" the same.

Anyway, between the Digipower that Sadoun sells, and the MOTEC version, which is the original, and which is the copy, and which is best, and why?

Mine actually doesn't "say" motec anywhere at all, but on ebay it was listed as one. Mine has the dms international sticker on it, which I believe is the manufacturer. Am thinking mainly it is just a newer model number with the current changes on the pointing device. I have noticed some setup instructions that show the motor pole as not having two pre drilled holes where mine does have two on the motor pole.
