Can the SG 2100 be mounted upside down?

I have a SG-2100 motor. I want to mount my 90cm dish to it. There is a "stop" mechanism on the end to prevent the dish from sliding down the pole. The only way that would work is if the shaft of the motor is Up vs. Down. If I keep the elevation setting the same, will it work? Or do I have to do some fancy math to get the new dec. angle? Thanks BTW everything is working at the present with the shaft facing down.

I've been reading preeviously in these forums, that if your "Stop mechanism" is just a metal triangle strip, it can be carefully bent out in order to slide it up over the trunk of motor

I put it back the way it was......made some tweaking and it tracks well........could never find the piece

Thanks, but I have done that. I wanted to know if this "stop" could be used in the other manner I suggested. The dish is already mounted the way you said.

never seen it done anywhere reho but i say give it a try and see what happens.

This came up in another thread. I think having it upside down would make it easier for water to get inside, both where the shaft goes in, but also the coax connections would be more exposed to the weather if I remember right. I also wonder if the bearings that hold the shaft might loosen up if upside down. Ie they may be held in place by gravity?
