SG2100 MOTOR: can only get 119W and 110W.Other sats?

Guys, I need help setting my sg2100!
I can only get 119W and 110W - nothing else. So far I currently test only circular sattelites.
Here's my setup details:
- Orasat 5,Fortec 80CM dish, SG2100 motor
- 1 dual DN LNB at dish arm(used DN standard bracket,so LNB located a little left of arm
if look infront of dish)
- Birdog satellite finder

My LONGITUDE: 75.4W
My LATITUDE : 38.7N
True south (mag Azimuth) = 192
Motor Latitde = 38
Disk Elevation = 24(suppose to be, but I had to increase it to get a signal)

How I set it up:
Dish hooked up to the motor rotor correctly. I pointed an assembly to true south(192 deg). I set my dish
elevation to 24 degr,as it suppose to be based on my latitude. Then, I drove my dish to 119w using receiver's
menu. I didn't get any signal. Using Birdog, I had to adjust the whole motor on the mounting pole(left/right)
and dish elevation untill I've got a signal(Birdog worked very good). So, I got 119w with 100% quality. Then,
from receiver's menu, I moved my dish to the most eastern sat, which is 61,5w. While dish was moving, I saw
Birdog locked a good signal at 110W. Pointing to 61.5 brought me no signal again. Now, I can only get 119W and
110W. I also have to choose the "golden middle" between dish elevation. If I set perfect elevation to 119w,
110w will be about 50% quality, and perfect 110W elevation takes me to 50% of 119W quality. Currently, I set
elevation level, which brings me 98% of each sattelites. It's ok, but I don't get any other available sattelites...
I can't get Nimiq1,3(91w) and DN 61.5W. I can't catch Nimiq2 at all(which is my most southmost sattelite), doesn't
matter how hard I tried to adjust elevation and angle(fine tuning buttons on motor).
So, here's my dilemma:
- Go to"X" function works fine: dish moves exactly to all satellites(east/west). I can get 119W&110W no problem.
- If I want to get Nimiq1/3 - dish moves perfect to sat azimuth, but I have to go to the roof and change dish elevation
(when I move back to 119w&110W elevation is wrong). Same story with 61.5W - dish goes to the right az, but elevation
needs adjustments again.

What is my problem? Is Nimiq2 my southmost circular sattelite? I tried to set Nimiq1,3 as my southmost sat(100 % signal-I mean, elev. set to Nimiq1,3 as my reference), but I can't get any other sats at all...If I set 119W elevation as my reference, I get 119w&110w and nothing else..#-o

sat aiming

I'm new at this also so I might not be of much help. you should consider dowloading satellite finder 4.3 it will help locating the true or nearest true south sat just by typing your zip code. If I'm not mistaken by your location the closest sat to true south is GEOS 12 which is at 179.9. Good luck

That is so considerate of you. I am sure Echostar Corp will be so pleased you are helping to test its satellites. May I ask what tests you are performing?

That bracket places the LNBF off to one side and considerably above the dish's focus. The installation instructions for the motor assume the LNBF is mounted the way the dish manufacturer intended.

Why not mount the LNBF by its neck using the bracket that came with the dish? Then you can use all the normal settings to get the motor/dish combination tracking the arc perfectly. Your other choice is to guess the deviation the bracket introduces (I'd guess 5º, so you could try adding 5 to all the satellite longitudes), and play with the elevation a bit.

You realize you're responding to a post from about 14 months ago? But since the poster is probably not likely to respond, there are LOTS of legitimate reasons to "test" with DBS satellite signals. People use them to help align their FTA systems, plus there are FTA signals to be found on these satellites. What do you object to in this regard?

I know that you're probably right, but there was no discussion of any pirate activity. The original poster's discussion was all about alignment, and never mentioned pirating. The more recent message sounded more suspicious to me, since it mentioned "software".

But I just don't think we need to jump on any post that mentions a DBS sat. I have viewed unencrypted programming on at least 10 different DBS sats, and have used these sats to help with alignment. I also consider myself to be a "hacker", although not in the sense that it is used in this forum. I think what this forum calls hacking should really be termed as "pirating", but that's another issue.

I do now, and it is a little embarrassing.

I object to nothing with respect to that regard, but that's not really what we are talking about it is? The original poster implied he was pirating Dish Network programming. He may have meant exactly that; he may have not.

Be that as it may, I don't understand why you are lecturing me on legitimate uses of DBS satellite signals. I didn't accuse the poster of pirating. You might have implied that from what I wrote, but if so, they you should be even-handed with your implications and not read the opening post in the most favorable light and mine in the least.

If we really wanted to help this guy with alignment, we could note that in the right photo, it is obvious that his pole is not plumb, just look at the angle on the mounting foot of the dish!

However, being this post is as old as it is, he will not be seeing these answers in the first place!

I think he means the picture on the right, where it looks like either the pole is sloping to the right, or else the building isn't plumb. Hard to tell from pictures, but it looks like something isn't straight.

See it now. I would think being pointed at the tree would be a minor problem as well
