MajorX is on a distinguished road
switching between motorized and not

Hey Guys....Thanks for your very prompt shipment of the Fortec 90cm dish and SG2100 kit. I wished to add this motor and antenna to an existing diseqc switch. I have read that my old diseqc switch is preventing the motor from positioning. Is there any switch that will work when the switch is installed BEWEEN the motor and reciever?

Major:

As I understand things, the problem with putting a switch between the motor and the receiver is that there is bi-directional data--that is, instructions go to the motor and position information comes back--and switches have a tendency to muck that up.

I've seen other folks try to come up with different configurations, but they seem to end up back at: [receiver]---->[motor]---->[switch]---->LNBs.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Good luck,
Bob

Just like Bob have said.

You control, whether you want to use the motor or not, by using the individual satellite settings in your receiver.

Let's say port 2 on your DiSEqC switch is connected to G10R satellite (using stationary dish). Then make sure in your receiver's settings for G10R that the POSITIONER is set to NONE.

As Bob stated the switch goes between the motor and lnbf. I run multiple dishes with one being a little dish (36") that is motorized. The others are big dishes. The 4DTV receiver is fed from one dish and those lines are split at the dish. The offshoot runs over to the little dish mount and connect to the DiSEqC switch. The other big dish is for FTA so it just runs single line ot the DISEqC switch. From the FTA receiver the line goes to the motor then to the switch, then lnbf. As Sadoun stated for any sats I watch from either big dish the positioner is set to none as with the one dish it is stationary andthe other's position is controlled by the 4DTV receiver.

Clear as mud?

If you ran the system with the DiSEqC switch between the receiver and motor you may have burnt it out and need another.
