Motor moved once

I have a new dish turner DG240 connected to a Captive Works 800S. It turned once after install now I can't get it to do anything.

I can not move it manually, I get no lights, I can not move it with the receiver. How can I check to see if this is a motor problem or a receiver problem?

Do you have a tuning meter you can put between the motor and receiver? They usually have a light on them. If the light is on, you have LNB (motor) power. No light = no power.

Any chance you shorted your coax somewhere?

I don't have a tuning meter. The coax was existing, so I don't think I shorted it, but I guess this might have been possible. If I did short it, did it fry my motor?

No, the current source is in the receiver, and it should current-limit. I recommend that you disconnect both ends of the cable and make sure that there is no continuity between the center conductor and the shield. You will need a small multimeter for this, but it's something you'll want in your house anyway.

If you have continuity (a short), you'll need to find out where the short is. If you don't have continuity, then go to the next part...

After you check the cable, connect one end to the receiver, turn the receiver on, and check for 13 - 18 VDC at the other end. No voltage would be an important symptom.

If the coax is existing, are you sure there is not a splitter in the line somewhere? That could cause erratic or no motor operation at all like you describe. This could also cause no power to reach the motor too.
