    help ?...please....

    So...

I live in Costa Rica....Niiiiice place, but TV su....

    Ordered a Sadoun MC-2 FTA-Mercury II Motorized C / KU-Band Choice Set

Love it...NIIIIIICE....but, can't make it work. First, this is my first time doing a satellite install...but, I'm quite good with tools, and I'm sure the dish itself is assembled correctly.

I had my handy man plant a pole, cement it...on the side of the house..where I can't see it from the BBQ area. I pointed the dish to 180 degrees. My latitude is 9.9 N and Longitude is 84.2 W....according to Google earth, and according to this, and using an interesting page I found, my magnetic declination comes out to be almost 0...so the dish is pointed to 180.

Elevation...well, I set it to 80 degrees...why? Used the pointing tool from Sadoun and setting the satellite to be AMC2, putting my lat/lan, that's the elevation I got with an azimuth of 186 (closest to 180).....

LNB settings...well, skew setting is unknown as I can't find a mark anywhere, but I have the label pointing to the ground (0 degrees).

Been trying to set it up but I get signal and quality = ZERO!!!

since I can't even get a little signal, there must be something very wrong..so I need somebody to give me a push on the right direction...

    Thanks!!

    Jeff

I think your elevation is suppose to be set the same as your latitude. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

set the motor on the latitude scale at 10.4 degrees set the elevation scale on the dish to 29 degrees. make sure your lnb is turned on in the receiver make sure your LO is set for the type of lnb you have which should be universal 9750/10600 make sure you are using a active transponder freq from the sat you are trying to align to which should be the sat closest to you longitude see lyngsat.com for sat.

    Rainman.......

I don't quite understand your post. Set the motor on latitude scale at 10.4.....

I can set the dish elevation to 29, but not sure about the motor statement.

I don't see an option to turn on/off the LNB on the receiver (mercury II). and the settings is universal with those two frequencies.

Using Lyngsat, I can see the closest sat to me with open/active TP is brasilsat B3...using this satellite, my pointing is basically 180+-2 degree....so I should be fine where I'm. Still wondering about elevation. According to lyngsat, I should use 80 degree...(my current setting). this setting is measured on the back of the dish, with a compass/inclinometer..

My dish is a prime focus, not offset.....Just tried removing the motor from the pictore (direct connect to the receiver)....nothing...zero signal.

the problem with using brasilsat is it is a c band sat and you have a ku system you won't get nothing from this sat try amc 3 at 87 w it has several pbs feeds in the clear.

my mistake I didn't read your first post close enough which lnbf are you using with your system and what motor or acuator are you using.

Are you sure Brasilsat B3's signal covers Costa Rica?

It looks like Central American Coverage is hard to come by near your true south, maybe the the AMC 3 C Band signal.

    Check out LyngSat Maps
