Question SG-2100 Cable Run Length

I just ordered me a system with this motor and noticed it was talking of a 75ft max cable run to get power to it, the question is this can I add a amp of some kind in line to get the power down to it?

175ft? I hope I can because if I bring the thing up closer I could run into trouble with trees and such, problems might arise from this, now at 150ft I get power to an LNB, but for this set-up I installed a 6x6 post plumb and level and cemented in the ground. And would sure like to know if there is such an animal to get the power to it, if problems arise and it looks as though it might. (my cable is RG-6)

A lot of the guys here are running 200' with no problems I have a 100 foot run to my 90cm dish with no issues you will just have to hook it up and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply rainman, 200' gives hope, my run is not that long, hopefully I will not have issues. Will the RG-6 be my best bet right now on the cable? Well when I get the system I will see, but was wondering about this. Thanks again for the fast response.

if the rg6 is not good enough I would recommend moving up to rg 11 cable it should work just fine.

thanks for the response rainman, I am glad I joined this site, I am glad to know people are here to respond, if I run into problems I will post about it. I am new to the FTA world just getting started, hope I will be able to get the networks like ABC,CBS,& NBC or at least some of them I know the time zones are probably different but that don't matter, this SG2100 is the motor I got with my package, I was curious about the 75' it was giving me that is why I asked and it seems like I got a real fast response from you on the issue, thanks again rainman.

not many network feeds on the ku side of FTA most are on c band where you will need at least a 6 foot dish or larger. I see you are located in Kentucky what part. I am located in the Nort east part of the state.

I am in Southeastern Kentucky, you say that most are on c-band? I know a guy who will give me one of those black dishes with holes in it like mesh, if I am able to get this can I use the regualar LNB that comes with it? Or, can I replace it with one I find at Sadoun?

Do you know if I can use this LNB that comes with the big dish on a Pansat? Or can the LNB be interchanged with other for C/KU band, it looks as though it has one big one in the middle of it. I would have to dig a large hole in the ground and cement the thing in plumb and level, the guy I know has two of these and said I could have one if I wanted, he also has two of the old Primestar dishes.

I am new to this thing and am asking a lot of questions but that is how I guess I will learn more, I found 2 channels on 119, Nasa and Angel One, but there are about 70 radio channels on there, I will probably leave this dish hooked up just for the radio part.

ayelvington will become famous soon enough
You probably won't want to use the LNB that was on the dish since they typically used a corotor for polarity adjustment. If you're really lucky, you'll get one with separate horizontal and vertical LNBs for C and Ku band (4 total). Not very common, but a top-shelf installation.

If you get the 4-LNB system, then just by a switch to do the switching between each of the LNBs.

If you end up with something that has a corotor, save your time and effort and pick up a BSC621 C / KU Band LNBF from Sadoun. You'll have way better performance because of the larger dish, and the money you save will be cheaper than the therapy you'll need trying to mate old technology to a new receiver.

Don't forget, you'll need something between the dish and the receiver to control the dish motor. We use a
V-BOX II Moteck Positioner at work with good results.

Thanks for the advice, o.k on this V-BOX II Moteck,,will I have to run an extra wire for this? I see some wire that has 2 leads in it, I will probably have to do some reading I am trying to get all the information I can before I start this, may be less headaches that way. I am assuming this is controlled by an Actuator to turn the dish, I will do a lot more reading before I dive into this I will get the hole dug and cement the pole in the ground make sure of plumb and level and go from there.

Assuming this mesh dish has an LNB I have to change the other one you spoke of will bolt onto this thing easy,? If it does how far out should it set are they a certain position it sets from center? My other system from Sadoun is on it's way I will try my luck see how hard it is to get going and go from there, I have heard that the KU sats are weaker than the circulars like 110,119 and the like and from what I have read it could be a challenge to get going.

I will keep my fingers crossed.

yep you will need a actuator cable with at least 4 wires 2 at 12 gauge and 2 at 22 gauge, the 2 large wires are for the actuator and the 2 small wires are for the sensor.the bsc 621 should bolt right up with no problems.check this site for c band setup it should explain a lot.

Where the big tunnel is; Middlesboro, right on the border. Thanks for the reply and the link, maybe I will get this dish from my friend and give it a hook-up. This wire you spoke of can I get it at Sadoun? I noticed in an earlier post that a lot of the networks can be found on C-Band, is that at 101W? See really all I care about is the programming it don't matter when it comes on I mean the time, you seem to know quite a bit about this FTA, it is a lot different then the other Sat's, I figured that much..

if you can get the big dish then by all means get it you won't regret it I think the bulk of the network feeds are at 99 w on c band.no Sadoun doesn't sell the actuator cable PM me and I will let you know where you can get it.
