SG-2100 wandering overnight
Hi guys, I have pole mount SG-2100 turning a 31" dish, Invacom thru an Ultra. My problem is that dish is traveling sometime during night. When I leave 110 at night, the next day the motor has to turn for 4-5 seconds to aim at 110. I have turned off twice now, listening for motor movement, but there was none. The rest of the sats are normal.

are you sure the motor is moving it maybe that it takes the receiver a few seconds to reacquire the signal when you turn it on.

I encountered the same issue. I thought it was strange. I hear the dish moving at nights from my bedroom window, and I noticed that if I leave it at 97, it will travel to 121. Dunno why
Note = using the Ultra as well

I guess we aren't the only ones, as many report sg2100 moving while Ultra off. Some claim however, the Ultra will seek EPG channels while off, and the only way to prevent this movement is to turn off at front AND back when not in use, OR leave reciever turned on ALL the time.
As far as I am concerned, the EPG wasn't that great to begin with, and does not justify wandering around at night only to end up with 1 or 2 hour EPG when first turned on anyway.
Snow storm last night and very cold and windy. Motor would not turn more than off channel this morn and will not go W, probably due to ice and snow. Tried to move too many times and now will have to climb to reset.
This sucks...SG2100 apparently the only HH that does this.

I'd have to ask one question of both of you that are reporting that the SG2100 moves when the Ultra is off...... do you have another receiver slaved, either via a "T" or via the loop-thru?
The reason is, that unless your Ultras are different from MY Ultra, unless so, this just shouldn't be possible. My Ultra removes lnbf power from the coax when it's turned off, either via the remote or via the on/off switch in the back. I didn't try the on/off button in the front, but I think it's function is the same as via the remote.
Therefore, if there is no power to the motor/lnbf, there is no way that the Ultra can be telling the motor to move. If you DON'T have another receiver slaved (and possibly powering the motor), then I'd start to think that perhaps there are different versions of Ultra involved here...... first of all, I just noticed that neither of you specified "Fortec" Ultra.... I think there is another brand called Ultra, like Viewsat or something. If they are Fortec, then I'm confused. I don't think the LNBF power when off would be something dependent on firmware version..... in fact from the behavior of my Ultra, it appears that the firmware isn't even running when turned off, since it seems to re-boot when you turn it on, but perhaps it is something that the firmware version affects. I'm running ver 2.64, Feb 2005 . What versions are you guys using?
Also, any time I hear ANYTHING strange regarding an Ultra, I have to ask whether you have checked to see if you are over the limit for the number of transponders, active transponders, or channels? If any of these things is over the limit, very strange things can happen. How many transponders, active transponders, and channels do you have stored?

Mine is VS2000 Ultra. I do have second reciever but it is direct to LNB, so not an issue. The problem is that when turned off by remote or button on front there is power provided to motor by the reciever unless turned off at back. I have heard the motor many times in the middle of the night last summer, since the cooler weather haven't left windows open and had forgotten about these nocturnal events until recent problem.
I believe the real problem is that we had a lot of rain which turned to snow and then quickly went to well below 0, and has not thawed yet. I think it developed some condensation which is now ice somewhere inside, as everything else is nominal.
As for version? mine says V0.1. I'm not sure what version you are speaking of.
What is the the limit for the number of transponders, active transponders? Not certain about tps, but I am certainly not even close the 4000 channels they advertised.
The answer to all of this is to stop the VS2000 Ultra from seeking EPG during "Off" periods. This could be done with an upgrade, moreover we should be given a choice of ultilizing or not.

Re VS2000 Ultra, OK then everything else I said/asked is meaningless. I just assumed you had a Fortec Ultra, since Sadoun sells Fortec, and there are many people here who own Fortec Ultras. I don't know anything about the VS Ultras. Hopefully they don't have bugs similar to the Fortecs, but it sounds like you've got your own sets of bugs.
Sorry for confusion.

I have an ultra slaved to a Lifetime NA and my motor does not move at all unless I have been watching the Ultra then move to the NA.
First thing the NA does is cycle the motor to move the the last watched position.
If I have been using the NA and turn it on again, the screen says Please wait until motor moves to xxx for a few seconds, but, the motor isn't actually moving.
