75?EAST ~ 75?WEST ( 150? ) Adjustable

Has anyone ever tried this ?

I've seen specs on other SG2100 and 70 East - 70 West was the limit.

My True South is 89.0 W so it is possible that I could go all the way to 19.0 West(-70) or 14.0 West ( -75 ) .

There is a slight chance I can hit Telstar 12 at 15.0 West , that is with my LOS , now if for some reason I'm short a few degrees , how adjustable is the SG 2100 , if I at least have 140 degrees to play with can I configure it to - 75 ~ + 65.

Anyone try this ?

First of all, the limit (75 east/75 west) that is shown in the version of SG2100 sold by Sadoun refers to rotation of the motor axis, not to difference in longitude. However since you said that "other" SG2100s say 70 east to 70 west, perhaps they have altered their specs to approximate the difference in longitude. That difference (70 vs 75) is a reasonable difference between rotation angle and longitude difference.

Re being able to re-configure the SG2100 to be offset from it's normal centered condition, I don't know the answer, since I've never taken mine apart, so I don't know if it can be done or not. I'm guessing that you'd have to take it apart and put it back together with the gear on the main shaft engaged a few notches one way or the other direction. Ie I don't think it would be just a software thing, or a situation of just moving the limit switches.

There was a post about a year ago over at Satforums, ie:
http://forums.satforums.com/SatForum...hp?msg=12788.1
which dealt with removing the limit switches, however this was just to get the 75 deg rotation (~70 deg longitude) range, since apparently they actually limit rotation to something like 57 deg on some of these SG2100s. There are different brands of SG2100s, so I'm not sure if all brands have the same limits or not. I have the Sadoun version, but I've never tried taking mine past about 57 deg rotation (about 53 deg longitude), since my garage gets in the way at that point, so I don't know if mine has the 57 deg limit or not.
Anyway, I think you could probably do your offset thing, but I'm guessing it would require taking the thing completely apart. But that's just a guess on my part.
