starting postion

i have motor the 2100 pointed due south and dish pointed due south or true south this i know as described in sadouns setup from halifax nova scotia canada what should i have the elevation on the dish at from that point
pointing south that is to track the satelites starting elevation
i can get T5 by swinging the dish but this is not right way the motor is sat to right degrees period but its the south position with the elevation to start from is what i need at due south setup
anyone that can help would be indebted to you

Installation

I'm sure you have see Sadoun's installation instructions. http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...stallation.htm Also see this thread http://sadoun.com/Forum/phpBB2/viewt...216b7 d16af0e It's really not that hard. I believe I have seen other post's from folks trying to help you in the past. If you can't make it work perhaps the local sat t.v. installer could come over and help you. If you don't enjoy technical things and don't like to play with programming your receiver all the time you may not like this hobby. In that case you might be better off with a fixed dbs dish. :?

Re: yep

You have to set at direct south with your dish. From there, you need to calculate the azimuth of your intended bird. Once you know the angle azimuth, subtract or add the angle difference from your "0" set point on HH motor. Example: your intended azimuth target is 199 degrees. Since you're set at 180 on direct south, you need to swing the dish to 19 degrees more. Once you've swung the motor to 19 degrees, slowly adjust your dish manually on elevation. Once you have lock on the signal that is your alignment on the Clark belt.

You should then see all the birds in the sky by moving several degrees at a time. I hope this helps.

Sometimes true south is difficult to find. I am wondering if we can use motor's swing angle and the satellite's signal to find the true south. Some of the satellites, such as Echo Star 6, have very strong signal and very easy to find. If that satellite is 19 degrees from true south, and the motor swings only 15 degrees. Then the motor is 4 degree from the true south. Does this make sense?

Use GPS receiver

Using a GPS receiver is the best way to find true south. It will save you a lot of time.

Use GPS receiver

Set direction referrence to true north instead of magnetic north. Walk from the pole to south several times until your heading on the GPS receiver is 180. Then put a mark on the ground where you stand. Point your dish/mount assembly to that mark.
