Please check my SG2100 values

Just bought an SG2100 from you guys. I am not sure I have the values correct, please verify.

Zipcode = 72903
Lat = 35.3
Long = 94.3

VALUES
------------------------------------------------------
P = 49 (based on helpful calculator on this site)
Dish elevation = 24.3
SG2100 elevation = 35.3
True South = 175 (based on chart of 180 - 5 for my location)

Is this correct? I tried using the formula of:

Dish elevation (DE) = P - (60 - Lat.)

Thanks.

Re: Please check my SG2100 values

all the values are correct. Actually, you don't need P for setting up SG2100.
SG2100 elevation angle = Lat = 35.3
Dish elevation angle = 30 - declination angle = 30-5.6 = 24.4
Make sure you set the LO correctly. Base on your Long, your true south sat is G3C. Make sure you use an active transponder to tune your dish.
check out the link below for active transponders:

So, if I have the dish elevation correct, the motor elevation correct and the dish pointed to true south I should be able to get a good signal for G3C.

Is that correct?

Thanks for your response.

That's correctly. But sometimes you need to adjust the DISH elevation a little bit in order to lock on the sat. Only adjust the DISH elevation if you have to. Don't touch the SG21000 elevation angles.
Things you need to double check before tuning the dish:
1. The pole must be perfectly vertical, it'll save you lot of time and make the mount track the arc correctly, meaning getting lock on all the viewable sats in your location.
2. The azimuth indicator must be at 0 when you aim your dish at true south
3. LO values must be set correctly.
4. Use active freq when tuning the dish.
5. Lnbf skew is at 0 when aiming the dish to true south sat.

I am now getting a signal with LO value of 11250 BUT it is BellVu 91 not G3C...

Am I doing something wrong?

It depends on the type of your lnbf:
Linear
Standard:
Low: 5150
High: 10750

Universal:
Low: 9750
High: 10600

Circular: 11250 (DishNet/XpressVu)

It seems that your lnbf is circular. With circular lnbf, you can only receive FTA channels from DishNet/BellVu, most of them are music channel.
IF you want to get the other FTA ones, you need to use linear lnbf.

So I will not be able to hit G3C to align True South? If I am hitting ExpressVu 91 then I am assuming I am not aligned to True South? How can I go about finding true south without a Linear/Universal LNBF?

By the way, I am using a TwinHan card that can drive the motor. Since I am successfully hitting ExpressVu 91 does that mean I should be able to drive the motor east/west and hit all the other satellites? Do I have to align it to G3C at True South or does it just have to be aligned to any Sat?

With circular, you can not get signal from G3C, which is your due south.
You must align your dish at true south first. ExpressVu can't be used as your true south.
Iwould not use TH card to align the dish since it is not as sensitive as standalone receiver.

So you are saying I need to get a Linear/Universal LNBF to obtain a True South setting?

Can't I use the Circular LNB, rotate the motor to where ExpressVu 91 should be, lock in a good signal and be done with it?

If so, how from to the East/West from 0 should I rotate the motor?

1. you must have a linear lnbf to get signal from your true south sat, G3C.
2. Yes, you can set up h-h mount without aiming the dish at true south first. The azimuth difference between ExpressVu and G3C is 4 degree. Use your receiver to move the dish to East until the azimuth indicator points at 4. Then anlign your dish to get lock on ExpressVu sat.
The problem is that you have to find furthest EAst/West sat which has circular feeds.
May I ask why you want to use circular lnbf to set up h-h mount? Is your h-h dish intended to get circular only?
FYI, not many FTA channels in circular.

I will try rotating the motor 4 degrees east and hitting ExpressVu 91.

I am really most interested in getting the thing working first and since all I have on hand is a circular LNB, that is where I am starting.

What setup would you recommend for receiving both Dish/Bev feeds as well as the others?

Your TH card with get FTA DishNet/Bev as well as others.
BUT setting up H-H mount with a PCI DVB card is a very difficult task.
If I were you, I would get a stand-alone receiver, use the receiver to set up the h-h mount. Once everything works properly, slave the your PCI DVB card to the stand-alone for watching stuff which the receiver can't handle such as HDTV, 4:2:2 format.
Once your dish tracks the arc correctly, attach a DishNet/DSS lnbf next to the linear one. Check out the link below:

Good luck,
Michael
