Hardware installation FC090CMP (pole mount) with SG2100

Hi all,

I ordered a system from Sadoun couple months ago with Satcruiser + FC090CMP (pole mount) antena. My strongest quality signal on Telstar5 is 73.
Yesterday, I just ordered SG2100 from Sadoun and I am trying to find out the information on how to mount FC090CMP to the motor. All the pictures I saw were for the U mount FC090CMU antena.
I have 2 questions and hope you can help me here.
1. if any one has installed FC090CMP with SG2100 motor, could you please tell me how it was done
2. if my telstar5 signal quality only 73 do u think that I will have problem with the motor. I live in NJ closed to NY.
Thanks and your help is greatly appreciated.
Tom.

re:Hardware installation FC090CMP (pole mount) with SG2100

Recently I also purchased the FC090CMP (pole mount) and the SG2100 positioner. Just like the picture, mount the motor pointing downward and slide the antenna mount on the shaft putting a bolt throught the lowwer hole. I hi-lighted the "0" and the "pointer" on the positioner with a sharpie marker to help me see the indicator better. The assembly drawing that came with the dish was the wrong one but I downloaded the proper one. I am using it with a Fortec Lifetime receiver. At 1st I found it confusing to keep the "birds" programmed in the receiver, but it looks like it is working fine now. Good luck! 8)

Buzzny,
Thanks for the instructions.
So it sounds like I don't really need to purchase the U bolt mount bracket or anything else. Just slide the antena out of the old fixed pole and slide it into the SG2100 motor.
Please let me know if anything else I should be aware of.
Thanks.
Tom.

Buzzny,
I've just got the motor yesterday and I'll install it this weekend.
I'll let you know.
How many satellites you get so far with your SG2100?
I have to study the installation and not sure how many satellites I'll be able to track.
Tom.

I'll post Monday with the count. I'm also using a BUD (10' C-band ). What I've done is made a binder with printouts of what is viewable in my area from Lyngsat's website. Every once and a while I'll update the pages if needed. This seems to help me when I program in new numbers.

The SG2100 mount can rotate 75 degrees to East/West from the center which is your due south sat. The mount rotation angle is set at 140 degrees as default (70 degrees to East/West from due south sat).
My due south sat is G10R at 123W. I get all the sats from Echostar 1/2 at 148W to PAS9 at 58W. Signal quality range from 80-95.

DTSExpert,
Yea, I get PAS-9>AMC-7. I punched in Echo1,2 but didn't program it in. I could try and pursue it I guess...
My guess is that you are using the DiSeqc mode with the 786 or is it USALS compatible?

The SG2100 is used with Fortec786v3 and Fortec 90cm dish. I don't think the SG 21000 is USALS compatible, so I programed all the sats manually.

I'm using the USALS mode on the Lifetime receiver with the SG2100. It may be getting confused on positions in this mode. I could be wrong. Most of the time is SEEMS to work, other times....I don't know....
Sadoun, if you read this, have you tryied the Lifetime with an SG2100 in the USALS mode? It works for me until I do a lot of moving. Maybe I need to go to the DisSEqc mode?

lifetime/sg2100

I just added a sg2100 motor to my system(my receiver is a fortecstar lifetime). I followed the installation procedure. I first postioned the dish to true south. Then from lifetime I did "antenna setup"->T5->"positioner setting"->diseqc1.2->move(west). (Since my longitude is 92.4W, I picked T5 as the 1st satellite to aim my dish at). I was able to get 91% quality from T5 by nudge the dish. But I could not have the receiver to store the satellite position. Every time after I exited this part of the menu, the receive lost the position setting. Can some tell me what I should do to store the position after I lock on T5?

In BuzzNy's post, he mentioned that he can use USALS to control the motor. I tried that, but after I provided my longitude/latitude and pressed the move button, the motor did not response. Did I do that correctly?

Thanks for help.

ar485,
I updated the firmware in the Lifetime receiver that I have to Version 2.16NTSC from Fortec's homepage at http://www.fortecstar.ca/downloads/
A friend of mine also has a similar situation as yours where his positioner did not move. I did a Receiver-to-receiver transfer of firmware and TP data from mine to his. His dish now positions correctly. I do not know if it was the firmware upgrade or just that I got my data entered correctly and maybe he didn't. I do know that both receivers origionally had Firmware 2.11NTSC.
Also an update of my intermittant positioner behavior. It has been behaving properly all weekend. (holding its memory of the positions and not locking up). I still think that the Lifetime model may be sensitive to warmer enviroments though. Typically in my house this time of year it is about 79 - 83 F. It is kept out in the open for good ventilation but a couple of times it has either shut off by itself or has locked up. I am thinking of adding a small computer processor fan to it. Anybody else have quirks?
