SG2100 Only Locked In Telstar5

I wonder if HH motor SG2100 can only lock in Telstar5? I get good picture on Telstar 5, but other satellites can get no pictures! I wonder why?

Seem like an alignment issue.

It's strange! If you can get Telstar 5, shouldn't you able to get other satellites like Galaxive 10r, Pas... since the motor automatically detect any satellite when you move the disk East or West with your remote as advertised?

Dan
If the alignment of the motor is off then the dish will not track the arc properly as you move from west or east. Simply pulling in T5 does not necessarily mean the dish motor is aligned correctly. Go back and read Sadoun's motor alignment instructions -- it is crucial to make sure you are pointing the dish at true south when the motor scale is at zero; if not then the dish will either track above or below the arc as it moves -- resulting in the inability of the dish to point properly at other satellites.

HH Motor120

Sadoun,

1. Can you tell me which is the most eastward and westward satellites I can receive? I am trying to setup my HH120 motor so that I will be able to receive all the satellites in between.
2. What is your suggestion for the starting sat to setup with?

Thanks.

Re: HH Motor120

It depends on the location where you live.
The STab mount is able to move 60 degrees from the due south satellite
for both East and West. You need to find out what your due south sat is.
Good luck

With my location at 37.57 N latitude and 122.04 W longtitude, what would you suggest? and how do you find out which sat is due south per location? Thanks for the prompt reply.

At 122W your closes satellite is Galaxy10R at 123W.

Do you have a USALS capable receiver?

If yes, then align your Post - Motor - Dish - Feedarm - and LNBF on the same straight line from the center of the post to TRUE SOUTH

Select Galaxy 10R and click on USALS. The motor will move the dish 1 degree West. IF your due south direction is correct, you will get a signal and quality (lock) on Galaxy 10. If not, move motor East/West slightly until you get a lock.

Thanks for your quick response! However, I still have some interesting questions. I had done what you suggested and did not really get good signal but when I did USALS to T5 at 97W, the motor moved the dish eastward and I got a usable signal and this setting was stored. Strangly, when I did USALS to Echostar3 at 61.5W, the motor moved the dish back westward which I think is incorrect. Doesn't the motor suppose to move the dish further eastward since 61.5W is east of 97W? Thanks.

As I have stated before, the Stab mount can only move 60 degrees from the due south for both East and West. Since your due south is G10R at 123 degree, meaning you can track the sats from 63 to 193 degree. The E3 is at 61.3 which is out of reach of the Stab mount.
good luck

Thanks. My actual due south is 180(true south)-18(magnetic deviation)=162. My receiver has a sat named Echostar3 61.5W. When I selected to go this sat, the motor moved the dish only slightly west of the due south and the signal was 90 with the quality of 100, but all the channels were encrypted. Isn't the E3 61.5W on the east of due south 162W? It looks like the Echostar stored on my receiver is some other sat. That was the default setting when I bought the receiver from Sadoun; I have not changed or modified any sat.

Based on your longtidue, your due south sat is G10R at 123 degree. I live in the Bay Area too. In our location, the E3 sat is out of reach using the Stab mount. Perhaps, the signal you got is from another sat because you can't not pick up the DishNetwork signal with a standard Ku Lnbf.
Good luck

rotor and locking in on sats

Dnguyen1,
Just to make sure, cause I had to ask Sadound about this. You say you have a SG2100, which means that the rotating pole is facing DOWNWARD and dish attached to it. See Sadouns products & then the example:

http://sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Motors.htm LOOK for the SG2100 PICTURE
http://sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/H...stallation.htm see picture #4. this is a SG2100 mount picture:
I have a HH100 and the rotating pole faces UPWARD and dish attached, but for a moment while putting all the parts together I almost put it facing down like the Sg2100.
Have A Good Day.
p.s. when your rotating the positioner millimeter, by millimeter its best to have the receiver and a small tv up on the roof with you. It makes it a lot easier. I took me 1:45 hours to find T5, but it was millimeter, by millimeter, then the signal hit and I then started to adjust the elevation on the dish also. I can get frustrating, but I just took a pack of cigs and the tv/receiver very early in the morning, right before the heavy sun came out. 8)
art

Gawd - I almost did the same thing with my HH100 !!

Yup - having a smoke while aligning the dish sure seems to help the signal come in better... HeHeHe. I always enjoy a cigarette when fine tuning a dish.

Not sure about the cigs, but drinking some beers surely did help me to align my dish...:-)
I use the Stab 100 too I really like it for its accuracy. It is more expensive than the others but well built, quick respone and very accurated.

Yes; I was impressed with the build quality of the HH motor. I must admit though the instructions are a little bizarre - guess the translation from Italian to English needs a bit of work. I found Sadoun's instructions much easier to understand.
