Slanted ROOF

HI,
I was wondering if a dish with a motor can be installed on a slanted roof?

If so, do I need a special mount?

I want to get a 30" dish/motor, but I can only install it on the roof, since the owner will not allow me to install it on his property.

If this setup is possible, can I also have a linear/circular LNBF (dual) mount on the 30" dish.

I would appreciate any info/advice.

Thank you for the time.

Can you put holes in the roof? If so, just the the "standard" dish foot mount which is a foot 4 lag screws go into the mount, and out of that comes the J pipe that the dish mounts to, of which you adjust to the angle you need to get plumb.

And sure, you can wire zip-tie a circular Lnb to the arm. My sucess doing so is not-so-hot, so what I did was use a spare 18" dish and install a diseqc switch that connects my FTA dish with that one.

You've got to be careful with a motorized dish mounted directly on a sloped roof. Pre-test the anticipated swing before mounting the foot to make sure the dish doesn't hit the roof on its travels.

I would strongly recommend mounting the dish to the eve rather than the roof top. Putting wholes in a roof will eventually cause you leaking problems. I had a hard time getting a flat surface to mount to so I added a piece of plywood and a heavy duty steel bracket to mount to.

Now everything is fine without holes in my roof (besides I have a concrete spanish tile roof which would not have worked well to mount to).
