I am not sure which satellite is my true south.

I'm in New York City. The information I got is 40.63575 N, 73.95061 W
180 + 14 = 194 .. ??? I am not sure if this is correct. But is my true south satellite AMC9? But amc9 has no channels.

Your Longitude reading is typically the value closest to your "most south" satellite. Your value of 73.9 would make SBS-6 a good candidate.
Even though the transponder is encrypted, you might be able to get a signal reading during setup. I don't think I have that in my active list of sats at this time, so I'm not sure if it has anything active.

Or, you can get your stuff (motor, dish, LNB arm) all lined up on 194 (that seems like good number for NYC), and then use USALS to move the dish to AMC5 at 79Deg and use that one as I know it has strong active transponders (12182 New York Network channels)

I was over at Lyngsat and check that OTB channel is fta now. By anychance you recieve that? its on amc5 I was wondering if thats has a strong transponder

yes the OTB (Off Track Betting) channels do come in normally FTA all the time. I don't remember seeing them encrypted at all, but I don't check there that often at all...
There are 3 of them or so with either an OTB banner, or have horse racing transmissions during the day from various tracks.
